I have been enjoying Takatsuki 300B’s in my SE Pacific DAC for well over a year and am curious to hear from others who use 300B’s in their Pacific. What are you using and why? These are the only 300B’s I have tried and they deliver a nice combination of lovely tone, body, transparency, dynamics, and transients. I preferred them over the RK 242 Anniversary tubes that came with the Lampi. Also, as a rectifier I use the Psvane Acme 274B which helps to create a more believable experience versus the Takatsuki 274B...

I find that the 300b doesn't fare will against other tube types in the Pacific. To my ears, you lose a lot of resolution and see throughness that cannot be recovered later on in the chain. My favorite 300Bs in my former DAC (Golden Gate 2) was the Psvane Acme 300b.

Thanks for your take! What are your tubes of preference for the Pacific?

My second favorites are TMBF1s/KR242.
Yep been looking at the KR242s. Still not cheap, but Lampi seem to be getting some more in soon according to the group buy thread

I have been using RCA 46 NOS with 46 to 300b ebay adapter. I think they outperform most 300b I have tried in my syste. You should give it a try. Maybe I will try the EML PX45s to KR242 also.

That’s interesting as I have only ever heard good things about the type 46 tubes.

Not lampi specific

300bs also sound very different in Lampi compared to amps. They sound much better in amps than in Lampi depending on the amp of course.
