Damn, you should run for office. You would fit well with others who make comments on what they haven't heard. That is worse than being a shill for the MQA format.

I don't blame you for your snide comment about my not having heard MQA yet still I still condemn it. Especially when the subject matter has anything to do with "high-end" audio where it often times seems anything goes.

But surely you realize there are often times several reasons for somebody making such a statement that to some could be interpreted as outlandish or non-sensical.

But hopefully you also noticed that I said the over-the-top performance claims associated with the MQA format by Stuart, Harley, et al, are impossible to achieve. Not just by MQA but any format.

Did you catch that? I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E.

Golly, you don't suppose I'm implying that maybe, just maybe, I know something you don't? Or is that impossible too?

From a prior link I posted, I also own this one on 3D Blu-ray.

I like Peter Gabriel, I got few of his albums (LPs and CDs) plus few more on Blu.
I omitted it because, one the 3D is nothing spectacular here (but when given the choice I generally pick the 3D version; it comes with the 2D version too).

Thanks, the onlu Mch recordings I have checked out are on DVD and BRD. Can you recommend some SACD's? As for what the engineers heard I think JBL speakers are a good choice. I use JBL 230's in my desktop rig and find them very clear and detailed. The LSR series are like the 230's little brothers. I prefer choosing my own amp instead of the class D's used in the LSR 305 and 308. But the 3 series s are cheap and are what a LOT of engineers are using to mix.Thanks

You need to select the music of interest to you. But, three SACD labels are consistently among my favorites for sonics in Mch: BIS, Channel Classics and RCO Live. There are others, mostly smaller than these.

Thank you very much. I use a blue ray player on my PC snd do not have an SACD player. I am eyeing one on Audiogon a Denon DBP-2012UDCI for $100. I can rip BRD on my PC and just play the files as needed. My question is should I just stick with blue ray music discs or take the leap and get an SACD player? I can download DSD files as well. Those SACD's can get expensive. Your thoughts?

You can even play DSD files with it. It supports WAV, FLAC and other hi-res audio codecs. Plus it does so much more...

OK, I can already play BRD and CD's so it would be used primarily for SACD and DVD-A. Is it worth the extra coin just to be able to add those two formats? My PC BRD player has the added advantage of ripping the discs to the HD so I generally stream them from my PC rather than play the actual disc.

And, like you said, for only $100 you can add that capability; with an inexpensive universal disc player.

Sure but there's not reason you cannot have 3 of them.

However, it was my riposte to the statement that it will play "every file including SACD." Also, some of us have accumulated large collections of ISOs.

* The OP is interested in good hi-res audio music recordings to get upmixed by Auro-Matic. You certainly can do that with hi-res stereo recordings, and multichannel ones can be "exotic" to expand even further more in those two other layers...the height and top ones, as many have six discrete channels (5.1) already on the lower layer (floor level).
