Ansuz Sortz

Because i am an engineer by education and I understand physics and electronics can differentiate between what matters and what is bullshit from charlatans. I have been to several demos of these products and know people who have some, high end placebo business is not for me. The claims are ridiculous. Let me give an analogy…

The moon will pull the water level in one end of the bath tub microscopically higher in one end, but it is not necessary to buy shims for 1000usd to prevent water from flooding one end of the tub. What Asuz it telling you is that that is necessary to avoid flooding the room and basement below…

It is the same matter with these shorting plugs, if you have an improperly designed amplifier shorting one input may help or make it worse, with a properly designed amplifier it will not matter. My preamp disengages the unsused inputs and is not affected at all. The chance that you need a shorting plug is likely less than 0.01257% . and if you have a problem you should have noticed it already , not after Ansuz told you you need it.

What Ansuz exploit is audiophile insecurities . Noise and dirty are negative words, so cleaning and noise reduction must be good right? Make som shiny and expensive things that promise improvement from an imaginary or remote problem and charge absurdly prices - and some people will believe it must be good. The fact is that shorting plugs can be had for a few dollars , and the nonsense about Asuz technical solution is without any shred of documentation or proof , just marketing babble , nonsense and subjective placebo. It would be very simple to measure and document the noise reduction from a Asuz plug, yet not a single evidence is given. Look at the price and what you get and what the evidence is,…. Believe you ears,? Well why not believe in facts and method that are 1000 times more sensitive than your ears? Would you believe a Facebook ad and buy blue pills from Mexico at 1000usd a piece to fix a medical problem or get a prescribed medicine from your educated doctor?

Get a multimeter and measure the ac voltage at your speaker terminals with and without the Ansuz plugs and report back.. that is the difference in noise level. Then compare with the voltage when music is playing. why ? Because that is what the speakers is sending to your ears.. if you cannot measure a difference the speakers cannot transmit it and you cannot hear it, whatever you think.

You will probably be limited by the minimum detection level of the multimeter 0.5mV or so . That does not matter since differences below that threshold will be inaudible too…

If it was not for your first sentence I would have skipped your post. How can any one with such background claim he is measuring anything worth reporting with such technique? With a multimter in AC?

BTW, most tweaks/devices being sold to "clean" sound are in effect noise generators or similar. IMO we must forget about the marketing claims and focus in understating things. In the high-end what minds mostly is introducing a systematic difference.

Please note I have no experience with any Ansuz product and I am not defending them. Just to know - do you accept that power cables can change sound quality?

The local Borrensen/Aavik/Ansuz dealer was offering 30 day trial of all products. I got the Ansuz Sortz Supreme (the middle of 3 grades) for a trial. I put it into an RCA out of my dac… Wowza! I am not a huge “tweaker.” I find most of them only marginal shifts. But this is truly component level change. It opened soundstage and changed the bass significantly. The bass is fuller, almost like a properly dialed in subwoofer was added. This difference is not subtle at all. I can and did hear it blind… worth a try for sure if your local dealer is offering free trial. I will be keeping mine for sure! Unbelievable. I am flabbergasted!

I have a Sortz Supreme on my router. Made a significant upgrade in sound quality.

Have you tried the Ansuz Sortz products?

I am not foolish or superstitious enough to buy any of their snake oil products. Demoing them in store and shows have not shown me any benefit and did nothing for me. But if you live nearby lend me one thing and I will try it and measure it at home, as I did with NordOst and Others power products and other stuff. No effect what so ever on the sound, the power product had no measured effect on the electronics signals either. If I find a store that will lend me Sortz I will try them and measure and publish the results both with sound and measurements.

I have had a different experience. Their Sortz, Mainz, Sparkz, and Powerswitch have all elevated the sound in my listening room. Very noticeable.

Yes, to both!
And you need to lower the noise floor at the lowest (noisiest) component first, in order to hear the results.
Example: a well known video calibrator tried the Apple TV “X” and couldn’t see an improvement to sound or video. He had not done anything to improve incoming AC, so any gains made at the source (ATV) were being obscured by noise in his downstream components.
Put another way: you can install the “best” source and hear no difference until you have improved noise across the system, or at least at the worst offender.

Well without Ansuz my Vinyl system hav a noise floor of -85 db at 60db gain. What with it be work a Ansuz plug?

I think you should buy one and report back.
