Gentlemen I must share my new experience of Ianus Essentia. These are monoblocks with 40w per channel, weight 76 kg per channel. They were powered by hungry Clarisys Studio plus. First the bias and other settings that affect the sound were run through. I started with not too much expectation, they had already been heard at an Open Day when they were a semi-success, some liked them a lot, others less so. I too was a bit prejudiced by the event. After the first few notes I'm thinking, hm the sound is somehow thinner than with my Challenge SE-833 monoblocks. I was getting used to it, as the amps played longer the sound got better, after an hour I was very into the music, record after record, my prejudices slowly disappeared. After getting to know the sound of these monsters, I started to find that I was enjoying them more and more. I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed the speed, which was evident in the rhythmic and the mastery of the presentation of the individual instruments, where I also found the resolution absolutely breathtaking and I could follow the individual musicians in every detail. The instruments were even more pronounced than what I was used to before, and I was really very satisfied in this respect as well. What struck me was the stunning dynamics, and the sheer control of the bass, you just have to hear it. The recordings I was familiar with started to entertain me more, they took on a different dimension, old recording or new. T.Rex, David Bowie, ifggy Pop, Yes with Wakeman, Peter Gabriel, etc...great stuff. Listening long into the night, I didn't want to switch off, but tiredness overcame me, with a good feeling and excitement for the next listening of my favourites I fell asleep.I already know why they won the award in the Stereo Times Recommended Component of the Year 2024. I already know why they have been reviewed so well by those who have had personal experience with them. They will be heard at the show, let's look forward to it and hope the spaces allow for a similar experience to the home studio.
