Aries Cerat Ianus Essentia Owners thread

Power Cable Alternatives
There is little discussion of power cable options on the Aries forum, but I notice @Willgolf mentioned elsewhere a plan to upgrade the QSA Lanedri power cords on his Essentia amps. If I understand correctly, Will, you are currently powering your amps with QSA Lanedri Gamma Infinity PCs, correct? Would you like to share how the Gamma Infinity PCs have changed the sound you get from your Essentia’s? And generally, I’d love to hear from any Aries Cerat owner about your results with power cable alternatives.
I got the biggest jump in SQ from the Ultimatum Infinity Line. Everything was more detailed, more bass and very clear vocals. When you have multiple Ultimatums in your system it is hard to hear dicernible differences from a high-end system with the Gamma Infinity line. The reason I was going to add the Ultimatum Infinity PC's to the Essentias is that mono amps need more power than other components. I was going to move the Gamma Infinity PC's to my speaker crossovers. I will be interested to see what happens when I make those changes. I am in no way denigrating the Gamma Infinity line. Once you hear the Ultimatums it is hard to go backwards.

I can imagine the anticipation you must feel for the Ultimatum Infinity PCs; those cables have a sensational reputation. I’m curious to know whether you previously tried any non-QSA-L PCs on your Essentias (or your Ageto pre) and how the sound with those other cables differed from the Gamma Infinity PCs.

I had Hijiri Takumi on my Essentias which is a very good power cord and I thought it was my last cord until QSA. I also had Inakustic silver pc's. Hijiri is better than Inakustic. Gamma Infinity is really close to Hijiri Takumi but far less expensive.

Thanks for the specific answer, Will. Your reply gives me a couple of helpful data points.

try to get a hold on VYDA cables.
they are phenomenal cable over all and for PC in specific. Enrico is the most kind and knowledgeable person you ever meet in this business
and the amount of research he did with power cable is out of bounds.
his latest KORAL line (not cheap!) beat the most known and ultra $$$$$$ cable i owned, my entire Aries Cerat system are now connected with full loom of VYDA lab cables.
it is worth investigating. if you want the very best.

btw Vyda was in two room on full loom capacity at the last Munich show, the Alsyvox room and the Magico room.

This year has been very busy, but in the last few days, I worked from home and finally had some time to enjoy some music and experiment with Ianus Essentia. I wanted to try the E810f tube, and before ordering, I decided to check my storage to see if, by any chance, I already had this type of tube. I couldn’t believe how many tubes I had collected over the years, and to my surprise, I found two pairs of NOS Mullard E810f tubes! I was amazed.

I replaced the Siemens 280f in the T1 position with the Mullard E810f, while leaving the other Siemens 280f in the T2 position. The sound perspective shifted—more front-row and with higher transparency, but I lost some bass. After a couple of hours, nothing really changed, so I thought, what if I swap the positions, placing the Mullard E810f in T2? To my ears, it sounded better, with a slightly less forward presentation and a more organic, natural tone. Very seductive, involving. But certainly front row perspective, nothing for romantics.

After listening for a few hours, I must say the realism of the music has improved significantly. I ended up with these settings: T1 at 25 and T2 at 110. Overall, it was a nice experiment, and in my experience, the position of each tube type really does make a difference. I’m curious to see how my perspective on the sound will evolve over the next week.

Please keep us posted because I have not tried the 810F's in my Essentias. I did put them in my Kassandra and found that elevated the overall SQ of the Kassandra.

Hi

The difference you heard by changing sockets was 100% due to tube getting more hours, not due to the position. The two sockets are interchangeable and does not matter which tubes is in which socket.Trust me i designed the damn thing :)
The tube during first few hours, even minutes changes quite significantly when new, and this is what you heard.

Thank you for the explanation, Stavros! I was thinking that this also could be the reason for the difference I had heard. Anyhow, the 810F imposed very interesting improvement. Staging, clarity and separation are crazy good! In the last 48 hours system was working for 30 hours

810f its a magical tube!
sound wise in AC products are the Best to my taste, although i'm still using the Russian ones Stavros sent me with the QuintEssence.
92/27 that i feel are giving me natural sounding with clarity and less "color" which i like.
with the TALOS and ITHAKA i put the 810F there is no contest!

The E810F is an amazing tube. IMHO is not the best in all circuits, and depends on system.

The main "problem" of this tube, is that is extremely high transconductance tube, and very fast, and with our systems, is right on the edge of stability in terms of oscillation. Some samples of this tube can be great for some time and one day can start ringing. Nothing bad will happen to equipment just annoying and you need to change it.
For this reason alone, we do not use it in more equipment , BUT, we suggest users use it with the fine print and having always in mind that their tube one day might start singing.

By experience, only about 10-20% max of samples do this, and usually present this at very early days/hours.

Other than that, we are "hoarding" the hell of this tube :)

Yes on Kassandra, Ithaka and Ithaka minor is great with this tube. But is sometimes system depending. On Ithaka minor at the recent show, we had E280F for example.

Cheers

What about Incito?

Hey guys, just wanted to chime in my experience so far with the Ianus Essentia monos so far. I have been playing them for a little longer than a week now. When getting them I was coming from some big tube amps and my fear was that I might lose the sweet sound that I am used to going from tubes to this hybrid design and boy was I wrong!

With AC Ianus Essentias I have the same sweet sound, but now the music just flows, the stage has widened, the music is more detailed now and the bass is just on another level. At the same time the sound is very mature if I can say so it is not moving the stage forward to impress you by colouring it, it simply flows connecting you on an emotional level to the music. OH and I have 0 fatigue from listening again something that has not happened even with tube amps for me. Thank you Stavros!

Can you elaborate on the rest of your system? You can also add a signature tab which allows others to see what other components you have.

Sorry, new to the forum :)

I am using Hifi Rose 150B for streaming, AC Incito S as pre, Helene as Dac, Zellaton Reference speakers, all of it connected with Inakustik cables. Will create signature line soon!
