Audiophile Death Match

Listening on my Santa Cruz system through youtube, 1 sounded slightly brighter? I could not tell the difference between 2 and 3, but preferred 2 and 3 over 1.

Now I have to get a crate of hangers, terminate them put some cool looking shrink on them and charge $500 a pair. It's all in the marketing, boys!

Use Magnet wire .......many do ...!!!!!

All three sounded different , the first was the best to me the Mogami and the coat hanger was close, but Alas , the coat hanger had the edge , the mogami had tonal issues and for the record , all 3 sounded better than MEP's recoding ....

:)

Really?

Easy on me MEP , I'm on probation ....... :)

I'm glad to see you are taking the heat off of me. There were some serious food-fights going on yesterday keeping Lee busy and you were smack in the middle of them. I was sitting in the bleachers eating popcorn and watching the train wreck.

But back to the OP, it's a miracle that any youtube video sounds decent because most (like mine) are taken with a digital camera with obviously cheap microphone(s) and then uploaded to youtube where further compression is added (I do believe). And then lots of people (like me) listen to them played back over crap computer speakers. How much you can you really tell about SQ? It's no wonder that you can't tell the difference between a coat hanger and decent ICs.

Here is another recording I captured from my table that some of you will recognize:

My desktop captures pretty well, at least enuff to hear differences in the quality of the recordings and i did hear a difference as noted above , all 3 sounded different on my PC ....

Mark's Ampex tubed preamps give me lots of expectation bias, so I liked his you tube video better.

What matters more is he has the same feet. :p

Isnt mark using Krell's now , is that an old video .....?

Good eye. That amp is the ARC VS115 that was responsible for separating me from my bicep tendon. It was replaced by the Krell KSA-250 which made my soundstage grow 10’ in each direction. The Krell KBL preamp in the video has also been replaced. The Krell KRC HR is now in that spot and that made my soundstage grow another 10’ in each direction. So now my soundstage is so big that I wouldn’t be able to capture it on YouTube anymore.

What matters more is he has the same feet. :p

Yeah, because I damn sure don't have the same bicep tendon attached the same way that I used to.
