Thanks for all the show reports. Interesting feedback. I hear other talking about the little Polks for under $1,000. Sounds like the show may have been a wash for the big boys, but maybe the little affordable guys made a splash.
What about the Pod. Who sat in the pod. Was it good. You know, the Batman like cape that surrounded you with 2 small bookshelf speakers at the opening.
If someone were to go so far as to make a room, they should have bought the custom built Altec live sound theatre speakers my friend Howard was selling. He let them go for less than what people spent to go on this trip. I have never heard as good a recreation of I am sitting there on the stage with Paul Simon or Dylan as in Howards double car garage that housed that system.
To other points here, It was so much, I am not sure I could take it every day as a daily listener. I don't know. The electronics were Altec 1570B on the bottom and a 1569 on top. Both rebuilt with better parts, but there was a lot of distortion to contend with. Maybe with clean electronics. Horns have something special to them. But some horns seem to have the Thoroughbred potential to contend with.
You can't buy or like something that you've never heard about. Someone's simply got to talk for brands to get listened to by anyone. Sure, the process can easily go awry (and be manipulated), but still...
i was in the Ideon (and Vivid and JMF) room as much as any other room; maybe 6-7 times over 3 days trying to get a feel for it. i liked the room, mostly the music was played at a relatively soft level (could have been louder for my preference), and the nice person running the room was from JMF, so much of the music was recorded on JMF electronics and so was a focus. not many tracks i could reference in my mind.
(...)
every dac i'm mentioning is top flight stuff and would be a wonderful way to go. without a head to head it's hard to pick a winner. but that is what we do.

i walked by that 'pod' room 3-4 times, and each time was asked to come in and hear it. it's not my kind of thing, and i had a head of steam on the way somewhere each time.
but in retrospect, i should have tried it once. i might have learned something.
Mike, thank you for the great coverage in photo and all the commentary!
I've heard JMF Audio several times including Munich in 2019,....they definitely do things differently and do have "that talk track..."
however the sound of their gear and speakers I have already found very, very impressive and incredibly musical.
They are around 165 cm tall, so I do not discard them, and they have a solid network of distributors and dealers. But I will not consider new speakers before next autumn.
you were certainly occupied when i was there. then i returned Friday night late after hours, briefly, to the room but you were not there.
i much prefer it when the show civilian attendee badges show names; connecting at these shows is a big part of why i go and without names so many opportunities to personalize our on line friendships gets lost.
i've had the discussion with a few show managers, i do realize there is an expense. i personally would pay a premium for it.

Did you or any other attendees, hear the new YG Acoustics Summit floorstander
Looked elegant in your photo ,but obviously it is how they sound that matters.
You can see a single pulley with a upgrade available to add to more motors and turn it into a triple motor version in the Black Night style pulley configuration. The part the belt rides on is under the platter on the smaller diameter part, the platter is made in one large piece. The motor power supply is part of the plinth. These pictures were provide by TW Acustic.

yes; i was in there twice, and there was a naturalness/calmness not heard from YG before. i liked it. recent YG's have been just fine to my ears, this is 'more' fine.
This was my first audio show and not surprising it was exciting, as I am young audiophile (since 2 years) and feel like entering Disneyland for audiophiles. I can’t resist posting and comment. I have known most brands and researched. In this show, I learnt that price does not mean more musical. The expensive gears (which I really hoped to blow me away) were mediocre. I will not post these brand names, to anger anyone, as it is also subjective and limitations inherent in room setup at the show. I have been to almost all rooms and multiple times. Each time, they were good enough to play same song which I requested (London grammar- hey now).
Having said that, my top rooms were Aries cerat, mbl, vivid g1/jmf, Scaena and estelon.
Most impressive for money was Alta audio, q acoustics, sonner audio, muraudio.
I am fan of Aries cerat and this show cemented my love for Aries cerat. Was very close to buy essentia amps. Will have to wait for someone to gift me 57k to buy that amp.
