I had an opportunity to re-acquire a phono stage that I had some years ago :The Klyne 7PX3.5.3

This is one incredible phono stage. It does not give up much of anything. It is doing paces with the Io P Eclipse. It is a very interesting comparison against some lofty SS units I have had here. Not much to complain about!

congratulations, a phono amp like the klyne is hard to beat. if you have time switch a good transformer in front of it for the koetsu settings 47k (switch none)hfc switch(7,9+10 35khz )gain low (37db) with 1: 20 sut. always keep the power on klyne takes hours to become world class. have fun with it.

Thanks Stephan for this detailed reply. I will try your instructions with the Jade. While some phonos from Europe that come from where the air is crisp and clean have tremendous flexibility and user interface- this Klyne - comparatively is really keeping pace

I'd appreciate his few lines if you like it. One attribute is immediately audible to the Klyne, the music flows through them and your brain tells you. "Yes, that's how it must sound". That makes this phono special, reduced to one sentence, but it hits the mark. just my personal opinion.

I have been meaning to find one of these for a while. Any idea if the gain modules can be serviced these days?

I am really not sure. What I've read indicates that Klyne has totally retired. There was a period not long ago where he was not really active but still offering updates and repairs. I think at this point you take your chances although I have not reached out to him to find out.

I have not read about any failures of the modules etc... like you hear about MLAS or ARC analog modules ... but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Congrats on the Klyne. They are legendary. I think Stan kept improving his design.

I just put an Ayre P5xe in my system. This was my first phono. It’s been in for a few weeks. I really enjoy sitting and listening to any record whenever I want. No warm up, it’s always on and ready. This is an experiment for summer listening as the heat is going to pick up and I may put the IO in the box until late fall. Good SS phonostages have many fine traits.
