Having worked for Sony, I have a soft spot for Japanese companies, in this case, Zanden Audio. So I went to their booth twice. I have not yet uploaded the pictures from the second set but this is from my first visit:

The Verity speakers were Sarastro IIs. As you can see from myriad of black absorbers, carpet on the floor and heavy curtains, this is a pretty dead room. As such, it had focused imaging. The horizontal plane of focus was higher than my ear level and that was somewhat disconcerting. Tilting the speakers forward, higher seating position, or less dead room would help all of that assuming someone has similar preferences to mine.

First track was from LP. Unfortunately it was a very scratchy sound and not to my liking.

I asked for some Jazz and got Oscar Peterson. Soft rendering although I suspect that was the recording as the ribbon tweeters were not shy elsewhere. To wit, the next album was "Carnival music."

It was highly detailed and to my taste, too sharp. The bass was tight so maybe all those panels helped with room modes. Power was from 60 watt/channel Zanden model 9600 class A amplifiers.

More to come later.

Hi Amir, that's right, Verity are not supposed to be put in a room with too many absorbers, they don't recommend them that way, and from experience with the Leonores in three different rooms, they shouldn't be. Never heard them boom, and they are polite, not bright speakers, so if the room is dead, it makes them sound dull. They are very open and have a great midrange, like planars
