Sad, for sure. Onkyo had a legitimate claim to making good consumer stereos. But this is not a stable industry. I am much more mystified by the sheer number of new brands that pop up every year, often at lofty price points. How can this be? How elastic is the market for high end audio gear? I guess we're going to find out.

Not knowing the details, but there are a number of reasons why companies go out of business. I doubt if it was because there isn’t a market for good stereo gear.
