Got one of these on loan at the moment and deeply impressed. Like a very good passive with added drive.....which design-wise is exactly what it is.
Anyone else got experience?
I guess I told you that somewhere already. A very good preamp sounds better than directly into the power amp. At least that is my experienceI'm demoing one right now. Within a few minutes, it convinced me that its an upgrade to driving my amps directly from a Golden Gate DAC with volume control.

Coincident Statement Linestage vs. Nat Audio Magenetostat SE. Has anyone compared these two linestages? I am auditioning a modified Coincident Mk II linestage (having only 24 hours on the modded unit) and was very impressed - transparent and dynamic; just wish the reproduction of strings (I listen exclusively to classical music) could be more caressing, fuller or voluptuous. Really appreciate first-hand and detailed impressions about the Nat Magnetostat SE (especially when compared to Concident unit).

I am interested in a Nat Magnetostat SE too, so I would be happy to hear about it from people who has experience.

Jono, thanks for your information. I am intrigued. Do you or your friends have personal experience between Supretek's DHT 300B and 6SN7 (non-DHT) CABERNET? If I could read between lines from Supretek's website, DHT 300B would produce a bit euphorics, but 6SN7 is more balanced and neutral (this latter statement is what I guessed; it is not so stated on Supratek's website)? I am inclined toward the latter, but would appreciate any feedback from personal experience. Thanks!
Bonzo, you seemt to have experiences about REF 3 and NAT Utopia, perhaps about other models like REF 6 , Magnetic or Magnetostat SE vs Megnetostat regular. Any more comparasions? With my Horning I need more body, I like the weight of instruments. Any thoughts?I compared the Nat utopia to AR ref 3 around 6 years ago and it was much better, then advised spiritifmusic to buy. Those were the good old days where he listened to me.
After that I had the Nat magnetostat SE with the Magma SE with my Verity audio Leonore to compare next to a full jadis system. In some ways, I preferred the jadis.
Then, I have been to the house of the ex distributor of Nat in Holland, who first put Nat on the map, and he owns their SE gear but I did not get to compare.
However, those were the days I owned gear like most of you and hence less experienced as I did not out much.
More recently, if you look up on zero distortion, there is a report on a system with aesthetix IO eclipse, Allnic 5000 phono, Lyra atlas, vdh Stradivarius, zyx, kodo beat, Vyger, etc. That owner had the Nat magnetostat (not SE) into Alieno OTL and I got to compare it with his Dartzeel mk1. He had replaced his Allnic L5000 pre with the Nat.
Overall, based on all these impressions, Nat is quite good. However market feedback is that it is high maintenance, and tough to service. The battery used to run out quickly, not sure if they got past that. Sonically, it has very good flow and tone and continuity and stage and instrument delienation for classical. Good punch. Overall I find Nat to be on the darker side with slower transients, but that is being very picky, users like it.
However, if you have SETs horns, you might be better off with something small and simple DHT pre.
If you have a cone with SS power amp, you might have to look for a matching pre which might not necessarily be the Nat
If you have a cone with a valve power amp, I would suggest the Soulution pre or something similar. On my zero distortion blog I did put up a pic of a visit to a guy who has the Nat magma but prefers to use the Soulution preamp instead of the Nat preamp, and I can see why
