Use a dayton h 812 horn with b&c de 250 driver impressive sound for 1"driver crossover point 800hz really flat to 18khzView attachment 107941
Need damping on the back side (blutak)then it is really smooth. From 80hz -1khz use a tone tubby 12" alnico 100db/1 watt. Under 80hz a ripol bass . Ready for party sounds really good
Have you successfully used the B & C De 250 down to 800 hz?....The manufacturers recommended xover is 1.6 Hz with a 2nd order filter....I do like this CD, however never tried it down that low.

No... i'm not in hornspeakers anymore i use the B&C in my coaxdriver now at 2.4khz/12db.
But I have seen measurements with 18db xover so low with dayton horn on the internet. must be work

Beyma CP350Ti will get that low and sound better…if you can find a pair…

What about a Beyma CP755 nd?
Very good driver but it is 1.4 inch throat instead of 1 inch. I have both the CP350Ti and CP755Ti (on different horns) as part of my DIY horn speaker. Both can be used down to 800hz or a bit lower with the CP755Ti. I much prefer a metal diaphragm to a plastic one, although the CP755Ti has Mylar surround.

Older version (white label, until approx 2010) is better than the later version (black label).

Somehow people seem to focus on 800 Hz... I suggest 900 Hz.
I would say 800 works just fine. The real rolloff of the driver is around 600hz...however, the distortion is somewhat elevated below 1500Hz, not bad still but it is very low from 2Khz and up. Note also how smooth is up to 15Khz.

2 or 3 way design , 6 or 12db slopes ..?
At that frequency you can easily do a two-way design, even with a fairly large mid/bass or woofer. Slope would likely need to be 12db or steeper but that depends a bit on how loud you play. If you play pretty quiet, the driver is probably robust enough to take it. With mine, I have been as low as 800Hz; howwever, that was with 18db (3rd order). I have also done 12dB slopes at 1000 and 1200 Hz that works well too. My larger CP755TI are pretty happy at 12db and 800Hz but I still preferred them at 1000hz with the same slope...perhaps I was hearing some strain in them that moving things up 200Hz relieved?
