Dac shootout

I'm definitely not in the same league as everyone on this great web site but how cool would it be if there was a dedicated post for a DAC shootout at a members house? Members could post they will be hosting a DAC shootout at their house and see if any members live near by and interested in bringing their DAC over for a shootout with other members DAC. I've read this happened in Canada and was very interesting.

these events do happen from time to time informally all around, and there are posts about them. and local audio clubs will put together some compares too. it's very hard to host a group in your home, and then switch pieces and be fair enough to each piece that it's optimized.

i know that stuff like that goes on in HK quite a bit and it's talked about. i've had my own compares with two dacs with visitors from time to time when i'm trying to make a decision.

Cold dacs unrepresentative of their actual sound so an evening shootout makes no sense...

I’ve done this years ago and while it’s fun I doubt it’s useful in the end
especially if there is alcohol involved
what does happen I know of is Lampi tube rolling
Lampi brand is cult like and I do love them still
on a lesser scale is headfi meets this is purely
not speakers and is people who bring there headphones or setup
one take away is how far we are in what we like

I did one years ago and took my Msb stack
needles to say they hated me lol
even from a Apple laptop it killed all.

I find that it doesn't take too long to get warmed up unless there is some blackgate caps in there which can take a day to become settled.

That's the whole point is to meet new audiophiles and have some fun. And you might learn something.
