I suggest getting this rig over to Goldensound to review it.

As mentioned elsewhere, I'll riot if no more CD transport.

Long rumored. Now apparently here. dCS is going over the top on their social media rollout however. Revealing little tidbits every day or so. They it's cool and enticing. As a potential customer, it's frustrating. Just tell me what it is, how much and when I can hear it vs my Vivaldi stack.

This isn't a Taylor Swift concert announcement for teen age girls...

As someone who spent 20+ years in marketing (including digital), it's interesting to see how many audio companies try to simply copy something without having a clue as to how it works (in terms of marketing).

I agree with you that this looks to be a perfect case of taking what could have been a successful concept too far.

Companies need to stick to doing what they do best - make gear - and leave the marketing to people who understand it. I would also argue that the timing of release is too soon on the heels of the previous dCS disaster and they should have let things quite down a bit more before asking for the spotlight.

I suspect they were hoping to change the talking points on social media when all they did was give people still mad an outlet to continue talking about what just happened.

All around a bit ill conceived and executed.

Haha... I have so many questions looking at the 15-second mark.

So 5 boxes. The bottom one accepts USB & Ethernet input?
Presumably, there are two mono DAC modules?
The top box looks interesting as there is something sticking out on the left, is that supposed to be a grounding box?
I presume the box below is the new clock? And they're using new connectors for the digital signal and clock?

I guess 3 more days and we will find out. (or more precisely slightly over 2.5 days because Hong Kong time).

Proprietary cabling via their patented Actus connection (embedding a data stream in a clock signal as opposed to embedding a clock signal in a data stream). Supposedly 6 boxes, even though only 5 are in the picture and does include CD player. (delivery Jan '25). P/S, clock. dual DACs (L/R), some sort of streamer/server & a Transport). Good source says $220K USD

Notice the expandable slots on the bottom box and maybe 2d box from top. Dunno??

Best to all,

Bob

No, it's not. Works very well for Wilson Audio and by the way that's where Giolas who worked on this campaign came from.

With recent announcements by Wadax, MSB, and CH Precision, would DCS have felt some urgency to put their stake in the ground? Limited number of customers at these price points. It will be interesting to see how quickly Varese shows up at dealers.

Fair point - that could certainly be the case. It will be interesting to see how it works for them relative to recent events.

Is he the one they fired?
