dCS new flagship

So it appears Mono and Stereo now deletes anyone from their FB group who mentions the debacle by dCS.

I must wonder what if any Mono and Stereo's financial gain would be in doing this?

Did dCS pay them to write the post? If so that would make sense.

Just more bad behavior around dCS.

What was the debacle at dCS? The last time I paid attention, they were releasing the Apex series of upgrades.

There is an entire thread on it here on it.

All I said - among dozens of comments by others was jokingly that dCS was offering free threats of lawsuits for those who don't like their $300,000 release.

I'm guessing the post M&S posted about the dCS was maybe a paid promotion without M&S disclosing it was paid and thus the reason for the complete block? Just a guess. Otherwise why else would you be triggered by that?

Many people put laughing emoji. M&S or maybe dCS was triggered by it.

I'm going to do a video on it now whereas before I was going to ignore the dCS mess. So his blocking me is going to have the complete opposite affect.

I would also argue that the timing of release is too soon on the heels of the previous dCS disaster and they should have let things quite down a bit more before asking for the spotlight.
My speculation is that their major competitors like CH and MSB are releasing or soon to be releasing new flagship DACs. They have to respond.

The aesthetics could not be more strikingly opposed.

What about MSB?
MSB dac is not in Iran but some of my friends will order Wadax and New dCS so we can compare these two dacs in the future.

That interface looks completely out of place.
They could have put a flatscreen on the top like a laptop and kept the front plate to match the rest imo.

I love the fact they have a new cabling interface. I have something like 13 or more digital cables connecting all the Vivaldi stuff up. I wonder if these actus cables are more immune from different cabling technologies. The Vivaldi was very sensitive to clock and AES/EBU cables...and this just adds to the cost. Of course the Verese ads another box so yet another power cord which also adds up. Plus the shelf space.

All the whining aside, I do love my Vivaldi.

When I bought it I couldn't believe I was spending that kind of money. Time will tell if I can ever spring for the Verese....I do want to simplify my system not add more boxes and shelf space, but appears a lot of vendors are adding boxes, like Grand Prix Audio, my Monaco when from one small outboard motor controller to two large boxes, one power supply and battery, and one motor controller. Sounds great...just real estate issues !

It seems the Core box is music server

Very possible.

don't 'see' batteries (could be inside) or separate power supplies. looks elegant. should get people talking. still related to the Ring technology of some sort.

wonder how much resembling how a Vivaldi 'stack' fits into a system logistically dictated design? so dealers can upgrade their customers seamlessly. it would make sense but wonder if it was limiting? the proof is in the listening.

If dCS decide to seprate the PSU then it will be 12 boxes.

there is no 'obvious' external DC power supply interface on the rear panel, although that could be some sort of future upgrade module (rear panel appears to have separate removable sections). so if they are doing separate power supply upgrades, it will be something down the road.

What does the core do? Does this system stream? server? price?

It will be interesting to see how the product roadmap(s) plays out. From the outside looking in, the "major digital players" (and others) want to provide comprehensive and continuous upgrade paths (more hardware components and/or software) for their customers within their respective platforms and architectures. This helps ensure some predictability to future revenue streams for the manufacturers and helps "protect" the investments made by their customers in a fast moving segment of the market. I don't play with the "big boy buyers," but it is going to be fun (grab your popcorn) watching this unfold. Just sayin.

I had always good feeling about big external power supply like wadax, I am not audio designer so I can not say anything about that.
I am interested to compare new dCS vs Wadax side by side in Iran, my feeling is Wadax will be better.

Yes the core is for stream, it seems the core is a computer (music server) for file/streaming and other processing

The vivaldi is already very quite on its power side, so very little to be gained obviously from splitting it into separate boxes.
The big gain I guess is on cross talk, and the mono dac's will certainly help that, and be in it's design, much quieter.

it does not need to surpass the Wadax to be successful as a product, although it very well could. as an exclusively brick and mortar product it only needs to be enough better than the Vivaldi Apex that those Vivaldi owners aspire to own it. a product like the Wadax is a bit different. sure; forums will focus on which is best, but that is not the whole picture, or even the most important part, for dCS. are their dealers able to turn it? i'm sure there will be a reasonable trade up program and a certified Vivaldi Apex program to promote the upgrade. like MSB is doing somewhat.

dCS has bet that it's worth the effort, but they are staying in their cultural/marketing envelope.
