My first net audiophile deal was transcontinental and carried with Gabe Wiener. He was a very kind man and I learned a lot from his postings at the USNET groups. As you, I was very sad when some years ago I found that he died of a cerebral aneurysm in 1997, at the age of 26. I still think of him every time I play the CDs of early music he masterly recorded.

My previous post to WBF http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?1801-More-on-the-Q5s/page8 has some details about his own label, PGM.

I met Gabe Wiener once. Bob Katz was mastering one of my archival CD projects and we had to take the deteriorating masters to Gabe's studio for CEDAR processing. Very nice man and an impressive mastering facility right in midtown Manhattan. I don't recall which model Wilson speakers but I'm guessing they were the X-1. They were quite large and they were powered by massive Krell monos. Gabe used to do forensic audio work. He play Bob and I cleaned up recordings that he made for the LA Police of the OJ Simpson 911 phone calls. Amazing what he was able to do. Sad that he passed so young.
