DOEPKE Residual Current Circuit Breaker AUDIO GRADE

In my case, the Gigawatt breakers installed after the Doepke somewhat madeup for the Deopke sounding overly calm for my system and preference.

It is very tube like sounding when i added it. It is excellent sounding otherwise, so calm and rich, it sounded sleepy to me.

Please swap back the previous rccb to confirm the effect is indeed less lively for you.
 
I’m in the middle of day 10 and it’s like there is no enough grip/power , all is mellow and nice but lack of dynamics is killing me.
Quick update: yesterday night things started to settled and bass returned and I felt its moving in right direction, played new MUSE album and it was not bad at all with deep cloudy soft bass.
today is 11 burnin day and bass is gone I feel like roller coaster

my past 3.5 years has been about developing a State of the Audio art digital streaming system, Due to the number and regularity of improvements made, the system has spent most of its time running in. What I've learned is that it generally takes longer than you expected, brings a bigger improvement than you expected, often in areas you didn’t expect. But its not all endless waiting! Your SQ will normalize and improve in the short time frame mentioned and you’ll probably find it a nice improvement and completely acceptable, so the final improvement that comes a long time later will be a nice surprise. I have a Doepke/Gigawatt combination and it offers what feels like unlimited dynamics and dynamic response across a huge range of amplitudes. It supports SoTA PR&T and super rhythmical, massively lively and agile music. It was a major improvement over ‘Audiophile-grade’ fuses and a consumer grade RCCB, but it took a long time to completely run in….probably because the current draw is quite low for most of the time.
 
Hi guys! Just got my first home and now finalising my dedicated lines. I've gotten the Doepke DFS2 + 2x Gigawatt G-16A. Am now considering getting another G-16A but not sure if it'll present compatibility issues with the DFS2 since it's only got 2 terminals? Has anyone connected 3 MCBs to the DFS2??
 
Why don't Gigawatt or Doepke just make an audiophile RCBO?
An RCBO combines the RCD and magnetic breaker (MCB) into a single device. The less devices the better, the less wire links daisy chaining these things, the better.

This way you can have one breaker device feeding a dedicated line to your system. Simpler and better. I have a 32A Hager RCBO right here. Combined with Gigawatt LCY-Evo in-wall cabling, this may be good enough for my next upgrade.

I'm in the process of adding a third line using Gigawatt 16a MCB's and also have a DFS2. I regret to tell you my sparks says the DSF2 can only handle 2 MCB's. Price on the DSF4 is £1469 inc vat in UK! I'm going to have to come up with a different solution. Maybe take a spur off one of the existing 2 lines if within the regs.

I bought my Doepke from Kemp Electronics in the Netherlands

That's incredibly helpful, thank you.I may try a non-hifi unit first, to gauge result; if I'm not satisfied compared to the previous, smaller Doepke, I'll go this route.

Oh - even more helpful, thank you. Mine would be exactly like that. Before I send to my sparks, does it matter that the 3 MCB's add up to 48A but the RCCD is 40A? (I'm not an electrician..)

This is what I did to my new home. Haven't actually moved in. And also this diagram is directly from Doepke themselves. Of course, do take note that the input terminals on the Gigawatt is on opposite ends to the Doepke.

I'm actually as clueless as you, I just did what Doepke recommended I did. I also did ask another forumer who had 3 Gigawatt MCB's installed and he also did connect in series. It's in the other MCB thread.

Are you in UK? Just wondering if Doepke's plan meets UK regs..
 
There is a switch to cut off mains completely to my new flat - still under construction.
Are there more desirable options?

After deciding to banish my balanced transformer, the siren call of addressing my power supply in a better way (and spending of cash, natch') is calling me.
Have had strong advice to go the audiophile grade Doepke, and six Gigawatts (I run six lines here) route.
 
I'm just trawling thru this thread, and six Gigawatts are likely gonna be too many. If I can go three, by connecting in series, then this may be the way for me.
 
The terminal on the Doepke switch allows for either 1 or 2 large gauge cable cores to be connected. If you install Gigawatts in series, that requires a single core to the Doepke, which is then daisy-chained between the Gigawatts. If you want to wire your Gigawatts is parallel then you are limited to 2 because each requires its own cable.

In a regular household installation, it’s normal to connect the RCB and all DIN MCBs to a busbar….in other words they are connected in series. The problem with a Busbar in this case is that the output of the Doepke and the input of the Gigawatt are on opposite ends, nor are they on the exact same horizontal ’plane’ so when taken together, the switches don‘t align with a Busbar. All that’s necessary is to replace the Busbar with a suitable heavy gauge cable.

Given that this is a job for a qualified electrician, you just need him/her to confirm that the final installation is compliant with the most recent code

Ideally you want the Doepke and Gigawatts mounted in their own dedicated consumer unit, for example a Hagar, with the neutral, phase and earth split off in the meter cabinet prior to the household’s consumer unit
 
Yep, backing you up on this, advice if I'm to run six Gigawatt MCBs is to daisy chain three each to both terminals.
