This is a great quote.I guess the height of the sky of analog playback is just beyond what people can imagine.

46dB to 48dB is a good level of active gain for a phono stage allowing good signal to noise. Often it is the line level pre-amps that have too much gain which is the problem. Gain should be apportioned throughout the system to achieve best results including the best signal to noise performance. Thanks a lot Mtemur. I was looking for reviews and comments about GE-10 but I cannot find any on the internet. I am quite interested to GE-10 but the price difference is big between M-7 and GE-10. I am wondering whether the difference justifies. But obviously, you’re very positive about the improvements of the GE-10 over M7.
I agree with you that the gain of 46db is very high. Sometimes I have to tune down some gain from the pre-amp. With what you said, I’m going to investigate more on GE-10.
If you are not yet familiar with the Bordeaux in your system you may just serendipitously fall in love on the way to your date with K.Having been unsuccessful in procuring a new koetsu, I’ve just ordered an Etsuro bordeaux whilst away for Xmas. They are recommencing manufacture in February 2024 and expecting mine around March.
Is the 1:14 EMIA silver wound? I ash because I too have a Bordeaux that I fancy. My initial experience with the Bordeaux was disappointing. But I recently put it back in the system and it is amazing with a 1:14 EMIA step up. It seems to rival my Urushi Gold. Incredibly musical and terrific information retriever.
Yes, silver winding which I preferred to copper in my system. Is the 1:14 EMIA silver wound? I ash because I too have a Bordeaux that I fancy.

Gold but i really loved it. and his system is remarkable and really synergizing perfectly. his pressings are always first rank too so the music just happens.Just ordered Etsuro Urushi Bordeaux. Thank you @jazdoc.

I will, once everything settles down…I will be comparing Bordeaux with Fuuga into Allnic H-6500 phonostage. Also on tap, EMIA copper version, custom built for Fuuga. I will likely post my impressions by Sep 8.Congratulations! Hope you enjoy it as much as I am. Please add your impressions to the thread.
I also enjoy the Fuuga. Will be interested in your thoughts.I will, once everything settles down…I will be comparing Bordeaux with Fuuga into Allnic H-6500 phonostage. Also on tap, EMIA copper version, custom built for Fuuga. I will likely post my impressions by Sep 8.
@jazdoc Do you find Fuuga signature contrasting (compare to Bordeaux) enough to keep it around.I also enjoy the Fuuga. Will be interested in your thoughts.
How do you come about the 1:14 as I thought Dave made either the 1:10 or 1:20?My initial experience with the Bordeaux was disappointing. Dave Slagle’s suggestion and of course, he was rightHow do you come about the 1:14 as I thought Dave made either the 1:10 or 1:20?
Dave will wind any value you want. They’re all made to order. How do you come about the 1:14 as I thought Dave made either the 1:10 or 1:20?
Not to be argumentative, but I definitely noticed a difference between 1:10 and 1:15/1:14. I was using a 1:10 and it was OK. Mike generously let me borrow his 1:15 and it was definitely better. Dave was the one who suggested 1:14 was best for my system. YMMV.Dave will wind any value you want. They’re all made to order.
That said, in practice there isn’t much difference between 1:10, 1:14 and 1:20. I have used the same cartridges into a wider range than these, and with good results.
