Jana Dagdagan from Earspace visited me a few months ago and shot Billygxx's full Aries Cerat system here in Austin.

Enjoy!

We need a Living Voice/Kondo vs. Aries Cerat Shootout! C'mon, guys, who's stepping up here? 2 or 3 mill for a demo couldn't be THAT bad? Bonzo, you need to do some recruiting amongst the audio oligarchs.

I have to admit I would be intrigued to hear this setup.

I liked watching him go through the 'launch sequence' turning everything on. Looked familiar.

Is it me or does this sound muffled and bass strange

listening to control tracks I didn’t think this sounded as good as other systems Jana’s recorded

the first record

is this track I think compare the sounds of the instruments, I appreciate it’s from a live performance :)

I think Jana's binaural setup tends to over-emphasize room reflections vs. direct sound. Most audiophiles are trained to clue in to direct sound, which would be a bit sharper, more defined, and upward tilted. Can't say for sure, but the little binaural headset that the Stereophile guys have been using seem to capture a bit better.

Exactly, and the distance (6.5m or 20ft) means direct sound/recorded sound is less than single digit percentage. We hear anything but speakers.

Same speakers(lower model) and same amplifiers here, different mics

and here

I never knew that Mullard made transmitting triodes.

The Mullards weren't made in the UK factory.Back then even manufactures would re-brand tubes from other factories, example i saw RCA branded which were made by GE o,and GE made by RCA :) Funny staff

The specific 813 were made for Mullard by Philips.

Cheers

I have never heard Jana's recordings before, what is binaural recording supposed to mean? That devore the orchestral part sounds nice. Music should have been better. But devore get better with lower wattage up to around 12w

Binaural from the olde english words ‘aural’ to hear and ‘bin’ as in rubbish or waste. Here the binaural refers to not only the way the sound has been recorded but also the music that has been chosen to play... this kind of music is often used in shows to ‘exhibit great audiophile qualities as a kind of art as torture’... the videos themselves while technically very good and full of hard work and visual interest are also great examples of generational style over substance imho  sigh.

Yes I agree you can seem to hear more room
i almost get the impression there is some sort of bass reverb on some notes possibly the room

ah well.....it would have been interesting at a closer distance with less room reflections

but Jana philosophy is to set up in the listeners usual position, clearly has 6.5 metres you are getting a lot of room

i must say that American sound TT is quiet

as to Binaural recording

Jana refers to “Alfredo” which is the dummy head set up at correct height as the owners head in the listening position
the microphones are embedded in the ear canal position in the dummy head so with headphones the sound is more like hearing what you would hear if your head was where Alfreddo was

Heh, Heh!

Yeah, even over You Tube, hearing those brass blats and organ notes from the mighty horn speakers make you realize you're in a different paradigm sound-wise.

The first tracks she recorded sounded crystal clear and i was excited to hear the audio on this video. When i listened to the actual audio, it was foggy and muffled. The aquarium was making some sound so she decided to filter it out. it sounds way better if you don't use the filter.Very disappointing.

So she threw fish out with the Aquarium as it were...:(. sorry to hear that. Maybe you can ask her to release the unadulterated recordings?
