I was introduced to this forum by one of your members, dwr, who has not lead me wrongly yet. Lol.....he has been so patient and kind to answer all my questions and there have been many. I recently purchased some Wilson Watt Puppy 5.1's in mint condition via audiogon and am really blown away by them at this point. I have alot to learn about room acoustics but I am stunned at how incredible they sound. Anyway, thanks for having me here and I understand there is only one other female which is nice because generally, I am it. Thanks alot guys and I look forward to learning from all of you. :)

Well a very warm welcome to you, Robin. We're glad to have you join us! Several members here own Wilson speakers so I am sure you will find you're in good company.

Thank you Lee! My husband is a family physician and he has told me the same thing. I guess women hear differently. I know that I am very anal about it and it drives him nuts. Lol

I feel Robin and I are old friends as we traded PM's here several months ago as she was deciding to buy these Wilson speakers. I suggested to Robin that she start a thread on Room Acoustics and I promised her that all you guys would be an immense help to her

I am looking forward to that Ron. These speakers are really placement sensitive so any advice would be awesome. Thanks.

Thanks Steve. I am going to do that very thing. I do have a few questions and am going to read the links you shared with me.

I completely agree and it's funny you mention this, Robin. Just as an anecdote, I still remember the first time I went over to Steve's house to listen to his system about 7 years ago or so, which at that time I think included the first version of Wilson Alexandrias. (Do I have that right Steve?) Anyways, I remember how precise the imaging was such that if I moved sideways even 1 butt cheek from center, the sound dramatically changed.

I looked at some pics of his room Ron. Wow is all I can say. That room is off the charts nice and I would love to hear his speakers. I'll be picking his brain to continue setting mine up.

Robin, the pictures don't even do it justice. I keep on waiting for Steve to adopt me, so I can listen to his system any time I want.

Look at the bright side Ron, at least all you have to do is drive. ;)

Welcome Robin! :)

Robin:

Welcome aboard :)

On a side note. One thing you should check is who manufactured the "Puppy Tails" that go between the bass module and the mid/tweeter. When I had them, they switched from MIT to Transparent and that really helped the sound (and no there's no box used here) tremendously. This will help tame that infamous "upper mid" Wilson "coloration" tremendously.

Also, one of my old, now sadly deceased friend, Lars Fredell, swore by putting something between the two boxes to improve the sound (sorta like Verity does).

I have the upgraded tail. I read about that and ordered a set and your friend was absolutely correct. They were a bit bright but that definitely resolved that issue. I was expecting a difference but it was an apples to oranges difference.

Sorry I am just seeing this Ki. Newbern is 50 miles east of us and I am very familiar with Aurora area although I can't say I know anything about Vinegar Hills. Newbern has really grown. Alot of people retire there because it is near the coast and is a beautiful city.
