NCF material doesn't have any sort of contact with the wires, and it's not a damping material either. All it does is remove noise, and this is easily measurable on an AC power quality meter.

I'd suggest it may be the damping properties of the stand and cover you don't like, maybe not the NCF material... Damping is indeed difficult to predict and requires some experimentation.

I have also read reviews that have mentioned the homogenous sound of the brace.

I also noticed that with the NCF outlet cover, although to a lesser degree.

It is a delicate line when a product removes noise, that I have experienced with other products also.

I have been using the Furutech carbon fiber cover for years and couldn’t live without it.

You must have a highly resolving system. I decided to use a layer of foam behind a standard cover with the GTX-D (G).

I’m sure your setup would benefit from the Furutech frame and cover.

I added them one by one, and there was no going back.

...I would guess it is the clear coating applied to the "shells" not the fabric itself.

Assuming there was no defect in the product or its application (which we can't know for sure), that coating *likely* changed due to UV (you noted it's not in sunlight) or heat.

Perhaps consider the local/micro environment of the affected cable and any potential differences from the unaffected one.

Is whatever it was connected to notably warmer that the other gear? How long do you figure this conversion took?

If you swap the cables, you could wait X duration to see if that one changes. I recognize that is probably not a desirable experiment.

Contact NCF product source?

Furutech’s answer:
“The discoloration is not oxidization. There is a thin layer of resin coating on the surface of the silver carbon fiber and in certain conditions, like contact with strong heat or exposure to UV light, a slight discoloration can occur over time. Please understand that this will not affect the performance of the product in any way. You can be confident in its performance.”

Hello,
I have some FI 50 NCF IEC connectors with this golden colour too. No problem.
