Internet Performance Speed of Facebook

I use Facebook to follow the activities of my youngest daughter (not quick to respond to phone calls). Facebook is WITHOUT A DOUBT the slowest responding web site I access and by a long, long way. It may be the most active site in the universe but one would think that in this time, slow performance could be addressed regardless of the traffic.

Any others here use Facebook and is my experience the exception or the rule?

I find it variable from day to day.
