Is Audiophilia a Dying Hobby or Just in Need of a Tune-Up?

Audiophilia is facing a crisis. With most enthusiasts over 55 and younger generations uninterested in high-end audio, the hobby risks fading into obscurity. Blame it on space, budget constraints, or the elitist image of the community—something needs to change.

40% of Audiophiles May Be Gone Soon, and No One Is Replacing Them

Can we make audiophilia relevant and inviting for the next generation, or is this truly the end of an era?grave.jpg

And how many that participate in WBF these days, actually own a decent system ? You can deduct anyone that does not list a system, they just talk, and pontificate about previous glory. Not many !:(

But at least one shares occasionally nice system videos encountered on his travels.

So do i. And you have your system listed ! :)
it would be interesting to see previous systems too. Especially, if someone went from something like I have to a set/horn system. In other words, a very different setup, not just an incremental change.

I agree. I included a brief history of my system evolution at the beginning of this system thread. Such a historical perspective from other members would certainly be interesting to read.

Perhaps you might enlighten the forum as to whom you are referring to Milan ?

I personally don't want to spend my time reading posters i obviously have nothing sound wise in common with, this is a hi-fi forum. Be proud of your system, list it ! :)
Oh My … We who are mere forum plebeians salute you … we are simply not worthy of your Magnanimous Largesse … We bow down to your Omnipresence!

I find listing one’s system provides quick context about their approach to the hobby. I do find it interesting as some people do not list their systems. I don’t think it’s a big deal, but it does raise some questions.

Listing your equipment makes it easier for you to keep track of what you claim to own too, its a win, win situation for you. ;)

Yeah, I'm wondering, too.
Not you Al, you have your system nicely listed with many pictures and informative posts. :) I question the ones that always shower us in posts with many claims, without having their equipment listed or pictures of their system.

I realise that this may be a little too Machiavellian for you to comprehend but here goes … Perhaps I do not list my system because I know full well how much that bothers you and your little munchkin friends … Ohhhh not you Al … LMAO !

If you really do not think that to be a big deal then what questions are you raising ?

Why do you feel someone isn't proud of their system? Clearly one doesn't need some stranger approval. Do you post your system for approval from others? You spending 10K or 500K on a system doesn't mean your comment has anymore meaning.

I might have been on a different forum but I remember a post showing people's system, etc.

It is not a matter of cost to me, some type of systems are just not my cup of tea. I like to know on what background statements are made, if i know i probably don't like the sound of someones system, i do not give much credence to their statements, why should i ? Plenty of people in this forum have shared their systems and impressions, a lot of them are taken into consideration when i set up my system and make equipment purchases. Others are disregarded as i don't think i would agree on their particular version of audio truth, if your system is not listed and you have never shared a picture of it, i will probably not consider your opinions. That is my personal choice, you might have different criteria's when considering posts. :)

You mean to tell me that you don't like or respect my "Hello Kitty" system? What a pompas.....

Just kidding. I think many here know where you are coming from. Whether they like to admit it or not.

Some home insurance companies won’t cover claims if you post your electronics or jewelry, etc. online. You can possibly invalidate a claim if you even post you are going on vacation, esp. if you play it real dumb and give the dates ….

One of the most common pitfalls we observe is people unwittingly potentially invalidating their home insurance by posting about their holidays. Here is how a potential scenario could unfold: you’re excited about your upcoming holiday and share a countdown post on Instagram or Facebook. Whilst this might seem harmless, you’ve just advertised to potential burglars that your home could be empty.

Homewatch report that 78% of burglars use social media to identify potential targets. If your home is burgled whilst you’re away and your insurer discovers your public social media holiday posts, they may argue that you’ve failed to take reasonable precautions to secure your property, potentially leading to a reduced payout or even a rejected claim.

Above paragraph from:

Our home insurance policy literally warned us (played a recording which we had to say on a recorded line that we understand) concerning this issue.

Most members in this forum have little listed that could locate them, most do not post their names or even country. Others list their name but own lots of protection and would welcome the distraction ! ;)
