Is Newt Any Different From Past Presidents?

In order to have the desire to be President one has to have a psychology that is a) Ego driven and b) Ambitious beyond belief....Enough said.

They're all different but when it comes to mistresses, he sure wouldn't be the first!

How can he be different if everybody knows who he is. I am living in a different world, but I find it really funny how guys like to rebrand themselfs. EVERYBODY has seen his past acts and I cannot understand, why people cannot remember more. You don't even need his ex- for that.

politics is really interesting if you have some historic awareness, say for about 5/10/15 years.
Good luck to us all!

Exclusive: Gingrich Lacks Moral Character to Be President, Ex-Wife Says

Shades of past administrations.......

In her most provocative comments, the ex-Mrs. Gingrich said Newt sought an "open marriage" arrangement so he could have a mistress and a wife.

Wow, why all the fuss? Isn't that a prerequisite to run for President? :) That is not being able to keep your pants on. Look at JFK ;)

Only democrats. Republicans have to lie about it.

While that can be an issue. My butt gets frosted more with one week Newt essentially says ' Barack better get with it on Libya', a few days later after the apparent with it, 'whats wrong with Barack I would have done nothing'. From what I perceived he was not taken to task for this Newt flip-flop at all.

His personal moral history doesn't even make it to my top 5 reasons not to want Newt in the White House.

An uber shiftyness that borders on a complete lack of a philosophical center does, however, make it to the top 5. One gets the impression that Newt, like his rival Mitt, is happy to be whatever he needs to be today. And they don't have a serious first name between them. What's up with that? Not top 5 though.

Sigh....

Kind of makes you wish for the good old days when an intern could drop to their knees on the Oval Office broadloom and we could dismiss it because after all "it's just about sex"

Yeah but I thought they gave him the name Newt to describe his brain size.

Some of us dismissed it. Others impeached the president and tried to remove him form office.

It's not so much that Newt is a racist, but he seems genuinely offended by an suggestion that he is. Specifically his use of racial stereotypes as just a matter of fact.

Moral character and sexual boundaries and the ability to get a job done for the public and general good don't always correlate. Also, sexual mores and interpersonal ethics may be completely different in the same person and one may have nothing to do with the other.

The sex lives of politicians are probably best left unexamined as long as the politicians are reasonably discreet and make an effort to be so.

Eliot Spitzer, for example, probably should not have resigned as governor of New York. He was not flaunting his affair, he was "exposed" for his victimless, private hypocrisy and could have been castigated according to certain moral standards, but was certainly doing his job as governor.

Newt can screw whatever he wants as far as I am concerned, but his long affiliation with "government for hire" lobbying and special interest whoring indict him a lot more than being a swinger.

I got a kick out of Newt saying the reason why he was having affairs was that he was working so hard for the American public. In other words, it was our fault.

mep - I'm no fan of Newt Gingrich. He's but another Republican who doesn't get it: America doesn't simply need a better administrator of the leviathan state, that will only postpone the inevitable but that's a whole 'nother topic.

The wording of your post reminded of this:

I agree with that. Frankly, I would rather have a president that paid for his sex than a president who was paid by outsiders to be president.
