How can I perform the upgrade?

We will do everything for you, free of charge. When purchasing the Master OCXO Clock upgrade you will receive a pre-paid UPS Express return label. We’d ask you to pack your card and we’ll arrange for UPS courier service to pick up your package. Once it reaches our factory in Poland, your card will be upgraded to accept the clock signal from the Master OCXO module. To achieve this, we’ll install the adapter specifically developed for the XE card that allows you to connect the RF cable in place of the standard oscillator on the card. The prepared and tested card, along with the Master OCXO module and the RF cable for connecting both components, will then be shipped back to you, also through UPS Express shipping service. The entire process, from receiving your card to delivering the upgraded card with the Master OCXO to your doorstep, will take approximately 7 working days.

The improvements in the S1 EVO compared to the S1 are:
- better clock; our own Master OCXO Clock board
- our in-house developed ceramic-aluminum footers
- upgraded cable for the internal music drive

It sounds more realistic with improved resolution, bigger soundstage, better layering, better texture. More natural and more refined sound.

The S1 EVO will be released in July. All S1 units can be upgraded to the S1 EVO anytime in the future.

Added this card into my high-spec gaming PC and saw an improvement in the quality of the sound coming into my Chord Qutest DAC. I opted for the Optimo 3 dual power supply to power the USB card externally (as well as the Qutest) and noticed that the dynamics of the music and quietness of the background had really improved to my ears.

I was running with a pair of Q Acoustics M20 speakers on the desktop system and this was already a very compelling listen - but shifting to a pair of Acoustic Energy AE1s has revealed the scale of the clarity and dynamics delivered by the XE EVO even more.

It definitely makes sense to try and match equipment to the quality of the sound that JCAT USB can deliver. You know the music is good when you find a host of excuses to be at your desk to listening to more and more music as the speaker, DAC and USB card combination makes a very engaging close radius listening experience.
