I have them and RCA 245 as well.

I know I remembe
That is a bad news. :(

Have a little hope for a different experience. :)

Ked is full of audiophile pop poo. Don't listen to him. Some say his ears are full of wax.

I like the Sylvania VT-52, Cunningham as above and Tung-Sol 6A3.

People will rant on about what the best tube is but that is missing the point of a Lampi. I think it's about enjoying a wide variety of different presentations over time.

Sure in hi-fi terms EML's best will show the older NOS tubes a lesson. But tone and sometimes less detail is just more enjoyable. Depends on mood I think.

EML and KR sound all the time? Boring, bored, bored, boring. Zzzzzzzzzz.

:)

Did I say already that my favourites are - since a few weeks - KR PX 25 ?
Yes, you were both right Goran and Christoph;)
Plus a recifier Fivre 5R4GY recommended by Trab - thanks Grzegorz ( Greg in English), I like it more than RK 5u4g.

Just more subtle than RK , RK is more « muscle valve ».

Seems like there is something in the saying 'Italians do it better" :D

Thanks Marslo, it's nice to hear you like it. ;)

Only certain Italians do it better

5R4GY Fivre, grey anode, double D getter and dark brown base.

This tube is unlike any other in quality of tone. Just different from the very first moment.
Worth give it a chance.

Hi Richard !

The grey Fivres described in the post 234.

Needless to say, choice depends on:
- the rest of the tubes in NAF: 5687 and ecc83,
- tubes used in pre and Lampizator,
- system, and personal preferences.

I'm also able to use in NAF:
Brimar 2 x D getter black anode, brown base,
Fivre 2 x D getter, grey anode, black base. Both give stronger bass control and more weight.

As you see I like 2 x D getters.

When gray anode is in NAF I usually avoid that tube in Lampizator, and vice versa.
I seldom roll tubes in NAF as at the moment I found the combination I like.
I do roll rectis in Lampizator, with pleasure :).

I quite like the FIVRE.

Was running Accuphase's first ever monoblocks from 1975 last night and the combo I settled on was the FIVRE and KR PX4.

I find the FIVRE has the most expansive imaging of any recitfier I have.

Did you say Fivre?;)
Having had PX4 for a year or so strongly recommend PX25 from Kron.
