Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

the mk2 upgrade is worth more than I had originally thought. The DAC is quieter, the soundstage is better, the dynamics are better and more importantly, the drive is phenomenal. I have the R2R. Apparently, Lukasz thinks the R2R is really special and he didn’t want me to change that to the newer chip/engine.

Smart. Btw I have been saying this for (let me count)

Nice score.

If they are anything like as good as Tesla AD1, you will feel a sense of deep, deep sorrow for your fellow Lampi compatriots.

I seriously rate Tesla valves. ECC803S, KT88, AD1, E88CC cross swords and PCC88. All of which I have owned or own. All sonically out bloody standing.

Enjoy. They look flippin' great.

May i ask why? Not your flavour? I like mine a lot although i admit i have not compared them to the 242 or 300Bs

I just find the Psvane Acme 300Bs more to my taste than the PX25s - they also match my system better from a gain perspective. Otherwise, they are exceptional tubes.

Just a question - is there any opinion (anybody tried) on Telefunken RE604 or equivalent YO-186 DHTs?
Assume they can be used on PX4 or PX25 setting...

Should work on PX4 with a B4 to UX4 adaptor.

Not confident on how good it will be.

PX25 is better long term on 101d setting, no?

101D is a 1 amp heater but PX25 is 2 amp.

Norman it must depend on which DAC you have. Which one are you talking about? Just those with low and high heater switch?

That is how it is marked on my Pac and dial switch...
Yup, also what Luk told me in person...

At least for the KR and RK Px25...not necessarily for vintage which may have slightly different specs.

So I can only assume that was a test question?

I do think KR are a bit naughty. They release valves that aren't really what they say they are.

They are what they should be when they reach the specs accepted for that valve type. NOT when they don't.

But would that be true of a NOS Osram PX25?

What's the filament spec on a KR PX25? Anyone actually know?

Oh Golum. You know I said don't bother with VT52?

Well I hadn't tried it with the Luxman preamp. It's working damn well with it.

And how about R/C control for tube selection on the forthcoming Pacific 2? With a friggin' display of the selection on the front panel display?

THAT would rock.

Of course, its a super specced air force tube made for high altitude performance. A doubled up 6A3.

If you think potato masher is high spec....
