For now the USAF 596 remain preferred to the RK 5U4G. In spite of the loss of soundstage width, it just unearths more music, which is amazing considering that is the calling card of the RK 5U4G in my book. It also does layering better.

Fingers crossed, I'll be receiving a KR PX25 RK this coming week, but I'll be out of town for a bit so will keep it burning while away.

Fred just informed me that my Big 7 can use PX25s so I am going to get a pair.

If tubesusa.com the best place to source the KRs in the US?

Depends which PX25 you want to chase. If RK version you can get them from Lampi only (best300b store) and regular KR guess from any KR dealer...

I was looking at the KR PX25. I didn't see the RKs in the best300b web store.

Has anyone tried a 'real' Osram PX25?

Or a NOS equivalent?

If so what do you think?

There's way too much dabbling in KR and EML valves for comfort. People need to get more explorative...:)

Guys, can someone remind me what setting the PX25 needs to be set to on the Golden Gate? I read somewhere that it's the 300b setting. Is this correct?

No, it should be on 101D setting.

I play 242 and 45s and PX4 on one setting. For the PX25 I switch.

the PX25 is the 300b one. Or have recent models changed that

Advice from LF was if you have rotary switch at the back (5 position) to use 101d setting as the closest approximate for PX25. I would say same goes for the 2 position one..

Ok, with the two position one it was actually written there to use PX25 with the 300b setting. But he might have changed that over time.

On my Golden Gate 1.9 with the 2 Position Switch, the 101d and the 300b are on the same postion, iIrc. Therefore the 300b and the 101d Position are correct.
On the Pacific or the newer Golden Gates with the 5 Position Rotary Switches, the 101d is the best Setting, according to Lukasz himself

Guys, I need your help. I recently had my room measured, and due to lots of glass and some other things, which I am not sure, I even understand, there is a nasty issue with the first wave reflections. Apparently, they create a dip between 150-500 Hz, which leads to lack of energy, body and lots of air. Interestingly enough, this issue is more obvious with digital, when listening to vinyl, I generally do not hear any lack of energy and body.

Anyway, what I need is a "meaty" tube with accentuated middle frequency. What I tried so far: KR 242, RK KR 300B, Takatsuki 300B, 101D and RK KR PX-25 with RK KR and Tak rectis. 242 has too much gain and sounded too lively for my taste, Takatsuki and 101D are somehow flat sounding. I did not care for RK 300B, as it sounded a bit "dirty" for my taste. I currently use RK KR PX-25 with Tak recti. To me its sounds a bit like 242, but not so much gain and a more balanced sounding. Any other tubes you can recommend taking into account my room situation?

Thanks in advance,
Aziz

The PX25 is quite a good meaty tube. Did you change anything else in your system, like preamp etc?
