without question Taylor Sheridan remains my favorite current writer, producer and director as he brings yet his next miniseries Landman to TV starring Billy Bob Thornton

Taylor Sheridan's new series Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton and premiered on Paramount+ on November 17, 2024:

  • Plot: The series is set in West Texas and follows the story of Tommy Norris (Thornton), a fixer for a major oil company, as he deals with business and romantic clashes in the oil fields

  • Cast: Also stars Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, and Paulina Chávez

  • Creator: Taylor Sheridan, who also produced Yellowstone

  • Filming locations: Tarrant, Weatherford, and Young Counties

  • Episodes: The first season has 10 episodes, with the first two becoming available on the premiere date

Watched the first two episodes last evening and Landman definitely has the feel of other Sheridan shows such as Mayor of Kingstown and Lioness. You will recognize a couple of actors from other Sheridan series that have roles on Landman, just as we saw some end up with roles in both Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown. Of course Sheridan himself has roles in both Yellowstone and Lioness season 2. I am not sure my wife will stay with this one but at this point I will.

Just note Sons of Anarchy had at least 13 recurring characters that had roles in Deadwood.

Fun seeing my town of Ft Worth in many of the scenes in the 1st episode.
But my gosh, the dialog in this series is terrible! \
Very cliche and scripted!!

Ive watched the first two episodes and I have mixed feelings. To me it is way below the bar that Taylor Sheridan has set with his other outstanding series. This to me so far looks and smells like a rotten soap opera.I agree that it is very cliche and scripted. It's Billy Bob doing what comes naturally. Beyond that Im not impressed
