Hi,

anybody here experienced with Le Son cartridges?

Best regards, Tony

I bought the Leson LS10 MkII. Enticing price, good build, exquisite packaging, and quick delivery from China. Even though this cartridge is electrically quite typical - and definitely similar to the low output, low impedance MC cartridges that I have here - I never got on with the sound character of the LS10 MkII, playing through a Phasemation EA-350 phono amplifier and my usual GrooveMaster 4 tonearm. Initial impressions were of a cartridge that is quiet in the groove with astonishing detail retrieval, but soon it became apparent that such emphasis of detail was delivered by a wildly exaggerated top end. The overall character of the cartridge was severely unbalanced and not really listenable, even after adjustments to setup parameters using Analog Magik. For reference, my preferred MC cartridges here are Phasemation PP-200 and PP-500 plus various Ortofon SPUs (SPU Royal G when the Leson was here).

Leson's 'Risk-Free Trial' promise is 100% genuine and their service exemplary. My LS10 MkII was returned and I received a full refund within days. Leson did offer a replacement cartridge, but I declined. Maybe I was just unlucky with that particular cartridge.

Hi Shuggie (is that your name?),

I've heard about the peculiar sounding, with "bright" upper octaves in the audible frequency band.
That would not work for me either.

Best regards, Tony

Don't write off the LS10 MkII: I've just installed one here and the first impression on very quick setup without run-in is impressive, including bass quality. I'll comment when alignment complete and run in.

I have to agree partially about the exaggerated treble from the LS-10MkII, but the treble is also extremely clean and quite well integrated. But maybe it’s my aging ears (made in 1957) that require some treble boost. Anyway an Ortofon SPU Century is smoother but also a little bit less exiting.

Installed the LS10 MKII about a week ago, and so far at least, I’m finding it to be extremely good. Reading these comments, I set the impedance low, but I’m not getting any treble exaggeration at all, just very clean very clear detail across the dial. It’s pretty stunning. Not going to do any serious comparison till the full run in time is completed, but I certainly won’t be sending this back.

Edit- for FYI reference I’m using an Acoustic Solid Round MPX, Sorane TA-1 arm, Vincent Pho-701, and Sonus Faber Olympica IIs.

Yes I am very

Hi, Yes I am very familiar with them and their silver interconnects.
My back and forth with LeSon was getting real tiring. LeSon refusing to honor their warranty on the cartridge, after 6 months the right channel coil was checked and was open and showed a small burn spot, They decided, after a few back and fourth emails, was to pull my warrenty and not honor it. one thing they cannot do! I also have proof that the cartridge has a blown coil on the right channel. I have sent it out to another state and paid for them to bench check it internally. Le Son has a terrible reputation on warranties and is known to lie about their problems that arise with customers. They send out used, returned equipment. Their quality in manufacturing is well known for their cheaply made items. In Fact some other company makes all of their parts and they just order them and resell them to unsuspecting gullible rubes. Well, lucky for me, I am covered by my Chase Bank for a second year warranty. They will recover my complete cost and will be pursuing the monies back from LeSon. We have spoken and they and my Bank are in total agreement on LeSons bad deception and dropping warranties. LeSon is not working on good faith promises with the public. That is why they are located in China and selling to the United States. No one can hold them accountable for their fraudulent business practices. Well, my Bank can and will! Until then I have a whole internet of sites to rewrite my reviews to, one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with....and Gregory is a very NASTY person to deal with, he is very nice until he is not! Then he will block you and ignore all of your emails. Fancy web site, horrible company!
Move on to a more reputable company.
