I owned 111C's and G's, M2's and M3 in the 60's and70's at least 4 other incarnations over time up to the flawed R6/7 SLR series. Tried the S2 but too heavy sadly.

Leica from the late 70's 80's suffered with buyouts various Mfg locations /Canada/etc and with the Staff pitching in to bring it back on line --all

seems to be a steady ship--

but the name alone may not save it from the technological wiz Tsunami that has taken over the Photographic world as we remember it.

I sincerely hope they do

The lenses are insurmountable and still the benchmark.

I've had a bunch of Leicas, from the M7, MP, M8, M8.2, M9, Monochrom and then back to an M2 and the 'holy trinity' of 35, 50 and 75. I've sold them all in the end, though if anyone's interested I still have a Visolux and a complete set of Visolux lenses (can't sell them any more!)
I moved on as I'm honestly more of an SLR person. So film these days is mostly a Nikon F6 for 35mm (though I keep several OM-1, OM-1n, OM-2 bodies and a bunch of lenses) and a couple of Hasselblads for medium format. My guilty pleasure is a pair of Pen FV half frame SLRs, which are Leica size and speed of use, and guess what - a bunch of lenses. My large format these days is just a Chamonix 4x5, having moved on from 10x8 and paper negatives.
Developing film is easy once you have the knack, and I've made it easier still by making a motorized base for daylight-loading Rondinak 35 and 60 tanks. I can do C-41 and E4 processing, but I love the simplicity of B&W, especially with Diafine. I do have a D850 for convenience, but I don't enjoy it much. Feels like cheating! Here's the Pen F:

Posted this elsewhere, now posting in the correct forum, bought a Q3 a few months ago, along with a Oberwerth half case and bag along with a Artist and Artisan silk strap, initial impressions is it's most certaingly a stunning piece of kit...wish WBF had the capacity to accept large image files though, a bane on most websites unfortunately

I wish the A&A straps were a tad longer as I struggle to use the standard ones. Luckily Rock and Roll straps do make longer versions. How's the Q3? I'm still using the original Q.

The strap i bought came in 2 sizes, i choose the longer version which is 49"long , camera hangs just about at my waist level which is perfect for me.

Cannot really comment too much with regards to differences between the original Q and Q3 as I never had a Q before, but there is plenty of content on YouTube in that regards.

Never been a dedicated photographer per-se, had a few cameras in the past, first "proper" camera was a Nikon D80 and several ED prime lenses , but tired of all the weight to carry around, then went portable with an Olympus Pen (forget which model) with the 12mm F2 lens which was nice and easy to use and took really nice photos, eventually I got lazy and just used my Iphone for convenience, though I always dreamed of owning a Leica, so few months ago pushed the button and bought one, rare as hens teeth in the US (kept looking for weeks on end until I got lucky with B&C cameras in Vegas) compared to Europe where they seem to be more readily available, it's very simple and easy to use and especially the 60MP makes for great usage when cropping in, shame I cannot attach any photos here as the file sizes are too large....

I also came from Nikon with F90X, F200, D1X and then switched to Leica for its small and compact lenses (and quality as well). The Q series is really good which is why I still use my Q. A 50mm Q would be even better for me but I can use my M10-P with a 50mm for that if needed. 49" is still too short for me alas, I need something more like 60".
