Near Atlanta, GA but not too near!
Fascinating. (but not even a bit of s surprise). For what it's worth, listening to the video, the live sound was MUCH more realistic than the recorded one. Wish I could have been there.

Would have been interesting if (a) the listening room and recording venue were the same and/or (b) if it had been recorded multi-channel such that some mics placed further in the room could have been used to pick up more of the room.

Very cool. (Loved her voice)

We did consider that - but one of then we would have double-recorded the ambience in the listening room. The objective was to have the ambient space of the recording venue come through to the listening space.

and/or (b) if it had been recorded multi-channel such that some mics placed further in the room could have been used to pick up more of the room.

The recording engineer - Todd Garfinkle - records with two microphones only. And he has various techniques to capture the space of the venue - just check out his Sera Una Noche album. On a good system, it is eerie to suddenly find yourself transported into the church hall in the silence before the music starts. It can give me vertigo!

Very cool. (Loved her voice)
