Miscast!

I don't think that I have seen it. If you think it's good, I'll put on my list of films to watch.

---In my book, it is a good film. ...But some other people don't agree with my book.

* But I was asking specifically regarding the cast in that flick, in particular about Gerard Depardieu.
...And Armand Assante as well.

Nick Nolte in "Lorenzo's Oil"
Bob Dylan in "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid"
Dick Van Dyke in "Mary Poppins"
James Cockburn as an Australian in "The Great Escape"

Thanks, Bob!

I edited my post. ..."Excellent" in term of locales, costumes, acting, cinematography, grandeur, and that type of jazz.
But in term of accuracy and the right cast I'm not so sure; the reason why I revisited my post for a more accurate overall picture.

But yeah, I surely recommend a viewing; slow at thimes though,
and that is probably its worst 'talon d'achille', and perhaps the miscast as well.

---What do you guys think of Ridley Scott's 1992 film '1492: Conquest of Paradise',
starring Gerard Depardieu and Armand Assante?

I liked that movie. And I like the soundtrack even more.

I have no complains with Depardieu as Columbus. But I would have to say Depardieu in My Father the Hero as Katherine Heigl's father and 'lover' is a miscast in my books. :)

One of my miscast candidates is Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan in Sum of All Fears. I got used to Harrison Ford.

Batman Forever - Batman - George Clooney (made Michael Keaton look like a good choice)

He should be the worst Batman of all. :D I might take Adam West over him too. :D Come to think of it, I always hated any Clooney that I saw, except for Intolerable Cruelty.

X-Men 1,2,3 - All of them! Except Patrick Stewart and Ellen Page

I'm fine with Rebecca Romjin as Mystique, she still looked sexy in that dark blue scale suit. :D And her successor Jennifer Lawrence ain't bad either. :)

You got me here..

In the meantime a serious miscast was Jim Carey in "The Number 23" as a dogcatcher who upon reading a book became obsessed and descended into madness ..

Yeah. A 'serious' Carey is an aberration I think. :D But, I should say he can play a psycho pretty well, even in his comedic roles. :D

Hi

I don't like Depardieu. His mere presence in any movie annoys me .. Can't see what is so great/good about him ... Few roles in which he wouldn't be miscast in my view

Keanu Reeves in Cruel Intentions is up there. Even by Keanu standards. Annette Benning got shredded playing the same role as Glen Close. Poor lady.

-----Same here. And very good point regarding the music soundtrack. :b

-----Neither am I. Gerard Depardieu is a heck of a good actor.
* Gerard is very very good (well cast) in many films, and less so in others.
...And I don't know if you're like me but I've seen many of the films where he's in it (them).
...Some black & white (earlier), and all that jazz. ...Remember too, I speak French.
And just for the fun of it, have a look to his complete filmography. ...Quite of an accomplishment if you ask me. ...And Gerard has a Theatre acting background.

-----Jack, you knew that Keanu is Canadian right? ...Same with Jim Carrey.
...Two of the top best paid actors in the business. ...In Canada I believe they are indeed the two very top best ($$$ wise).

And Keanu is an excellent Theatre actor.

I had no idea Bob. Absolutely no idea. He really should steer clear of any roles that requires him to do any accents. He's been in a lot of period pieces. As far as Matrix goes, yes he made it his. I just keep on thinking how it might have been if River Phoenix hadn't died.
