Mob Land

Godfather didn’t attempt, Guy Ritchie attempts and fails. I wouldn’t insult Godfather and Boardwalk empire, nor Guy R’s first two movies, by comparing them.
Of course most laughed like.moonstruck
You have to have some heritage to understand it. My wife looks Italian but is not , her family is not as such hates some.classics I love

Tonight's episode (8) of Mobland was truly epic. Two complete revelations are revealed and both were mind blowing. This leaves 2 episodes to wrap up this season and episode 8 set the wheels in motion. Contrary to what Bonzo states about Guy Richie, IMO this episode was so amazing that I can't wait to see how it all goes down. Everyone plays their character perfectly. I've really never been a fan of Piers Brosnan (not even when he played my all time favorite 007) but in this role Piers is at the top of his game and Helen Mirren who plays his wife Maeve is downright evil in this role and then there is Harry who plays "the Harrigan fixer" -much like the Ray Donovan series from several years ago except that Harry doesnt use a baseball bat, but rather he's a calm collected killer. Things get complicated between Harry and Eddy who happens to be "shagging" Harry's daughter when the truth about Eddy, Bella Kevin and Harry is revealed by Maeve. The police are closing in on Conrad and the police conscript a retired head of Scotland Yard to help them figure how to entrap Conrad in a sting ....and I will leave it there as this episode was somewhat shocking. This episode will have you shaking your head and wanting for more as Harry now owes Kat not one but 2 favors..

Mind boggling good this series

well season 1 of Mobland is over and what an ending. Everyone in the series is involved and everything is tied up except for 2 things? What about Harry and will there be a season 2

The series was by far the best and most intense I've watched this year. Definitely thumb's up and the door has certainly been left open for a season 2 but time will tell as the ending tonight put some order to everything

Was definitely worth the watch. Sorry to Ked who didn't like it. I thought it was fantastic]. Here's hoping for a season 2

For all the rest, my lips are sealed as everything changes from episode 8 until today's season finale

Happy watching

I read an online interview a few weeks ago with Tom Hardy, I took from it hiis expectation that the series will continue but in a broader MobLand context- meaning global. Guess we'll see

This was the hottest show for me in a very long time, I was literally counting the days until the next episode!

About another season, this is what Tom Hardy said in that interview mentioned earlier with The Hollywood Reporter from April 13, 2025 about the future of Mobland;

What do you envision for the future of MobLand? What is the long-term plan for this show?

The plan is definitely to see more seasons. The question is: Does it become international? There are international elements to organized crime, which are touched on in season one and the control of drugs and ammunition and weapons and people and all kinds of things that go through Europe and from Africa through to South America, Pakistan and the variable commodities that move around Europe. There are families that are involved in each European country that are vying for power to have that status to be able to move these kind of commodities through and who polices that and how that fits into a world stage.

This sound very promising and although Paramount+ has not yet renewed MobLand for a second season but seems likely given the success of Season 1 so fingers crossed.

I finished earlier today. Like most of you I looked forward to each upcoming episode but in the end can’t say it was a great series. Even so hope they continue with additional seasons.

Great last line by Tom Hardy’s character.

I have a dislike for overacting and both Brosnan and Mirren’s characters were poorly written IMHO.

If you are looking for something interesting to start now that Moblsnd has finished give Dept Q on Netflix a go. I am starting episode 4 and the characters are pretty interesting.

Jim you know I agree with you on most every series but I have to disagree. These roles for Brosnan and Mirren IMO were so out of character that I thought they were terrific. I do agree however about Harry’s last line. It had all of our attentions.

Thanks for this recommendation. Something good came from this thread. Quite a complex story, and good acting.

I finished Dep Q and it was very different from Mobland. The dialogue was top shelf throughout especially between the lead character and his therapist. A bit long but I found well worth watching

Yeah dialogues are great. That therapist delivered brilliant performance in Boardwalk empire

To each his own ..... I think this is one of the best series Ive seen in a while. I love Helen Mirren and to see her in this role once again to me proves she is a chameleon and becomes the character. Even Piers Brosnan is excellent in the role.
i agree its a terrific show and very full of tension and drama. I guess for some it needs HORNS

The two mobs had locked horns but the guy who had the co(jo)nes won

I thoroughly enjoyed MOBLAND....looking forward to another season if it gets renewed.... Also as someone mentioned above, Department Q. is definitely worth watching...

Rumour in the UK is that no season 2 because Brosnan and Mirren's accents are so bad!! From Hardy's quote, may mean there is a season 2 but they get dropped.

Compared to the first three Jussi Adler Olsen films, the series is rather weak. The biting, dark humor is missing. Changing the actors in the fourth film was a bad move. I would have liked to have seen more film adaptations of the ten books.

Are these related to the Scottish Dept Q?

This is original and doesn't take place in Scotland, but in Denmark.
This is similar to Stieg Larsson, and the Hollywood remake with Daniel Craig. Dept. Q is a remake
Orginal movies
Erbarmen: (2013)
Schändung: (2014)
Erlösung: (2016)
Verachtung: (2018)
Erwartung – Der Marco-Effekt: (2021)

For those wanting a mobland but much better, watch The City Is Ours. First episode is a warmer, and by the end of the second episode goes exponential.

The accents are even tougher, they are from Liverpool, and subtitles are a must. After finishing a couple of episodes I tried to talk to my wife with a Liverpool accent, she said I was sounding even more Indian in the attempt.

There is a relationship similar to Conrad and Harry. The dialogues and plots are far superior. Finished 4 episodes now, been great so far
