I am the new owner of a Nagra III!
I picked it up for 'a song', along with the mains adapter, akg 202e mic,
And the Beyer dt 48s 25 ohm 'phones.
Cobbled some cables together and ran one of my 2 track 7.5ips tapes (hair shirt 'summed mono') and I have to say, I'm now more determined than ever to get my 2 channel 1/2 track machine running. I didn't know my system was cabable of such BASS!!!
Dynamics, detail, texture, and decay!
I've heard this tape before on the consumer machines, and I never got anything remotely close to this level of repro. I considered it a mediocre tape.
The real bonus is the schematics for all of the boards etc. came with the recorder.
So I can get started on fashioning a standalone 15ips ccir/7.5ips NAB eq!
I guess it will have to be dual mono!
Good fun, can't wait to make some full track mono 15ips recordings

good!, now... where are the PICS????? :)

Oh! Pics to come. I'm sad to say I'm at BC Childrens hospital right now!
Jr. Swallowed a coin last night, it's lodged in his esophagus, removal won't happen until 4pm or later, hence the free time to visit the forum. I have pics on my iPhone but no way to post them.

Ahhh, All ended well, always exciting waking up in the hospital.... can't say the same for my son!

I'll post more pics when I find a more user friendly, less annoying image hosting site... tinypic is not cutting it at this point!

Ok... I just HAD to do it!
Got the matching 4 channel mixer for the Nagra III,
It's on it's way from Australia!
I promise when it gets here I shall sit down, assemble the kit and post some pics!
The mixer is called the Nagra BM II,
And it matches perfectly with the deck, silver hammertoe paint, and the level switches match the switchgear on the deck.
Do I need it ?
Of course I do!!!
Mics... A new obsession.
