New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

More surprises for this Celtic fan. Who would have thought that 'after team consultation', Doc Rivers would sit his 4 starters yesterday against Miami claiming that chasing home court ad against the Heat is secondary to preserving his stars' health. It's a strategy and hopefully it will work out for the team.

As for tonight's Spurs/LAL game, my guess is that the Spurs would take it a bit easy, probably in the same mold as Boston's move to prevent injuries to its older players. I just can't wait for the playoffs to begin. A good friend here says come playoff time, the C's, Spurs and the Lakers play different ball, getting tough as the tough gets going. I want to see if that can still hold this season as the young, hungry teams are knocking real hard on the door. Are the vintage teams ready to pass on the baton?

Hi

Not sure they need to win tonight. Would be nice but it is not a must win ... The Lakers as a whole and the Celtics for that matter have played more game than any team in the league so .. resting their players is an important consideration...
As for the Celtis it befuddled me that they traded Perks ... I love to hate this mean sumofa@#$% ... Brings a toughness to OKC that they lacked. The Lakers and C's will wake up for the playoffs.. The Celtics need Shaq though, the Lakers simply need to remain healthy and so do the Spurs

I have the strange feeling that the Knicks are to be watched: they may surprise all of us they have Youth and talent and experience ... They may derail quite a few dreams ...

Going to be an interesting last day of the season with Lakers tied with Dallas for 2nd but OKC one game behind. Lakers need to win tonight to clinch second place

SAS second string played well against the Lakers and for a moment I wondered if the Lakers would lose

Bynum has his MRI today but isn't going to Sacramento with the team. The only consolation was Phil's comments on camera that Andrew said to him that he would be OK. Lakers will have a difficult enough time winning the championship but without Andrew, it won't happen.

Watching the Bulls destroy the Knicks last night they seem impossible to stop and IMO are the best team in the league now.

If Chicago wins tonight and the Spurs lose, guess who finishes with the best record in the NBA

Interesting last day indeed. And here you get to see that need for a coach to balance the chase for the home court ad against players getting injured. The Bynum case was a scare. Luckily it's just a bone bruise so he will be playing again very soon. Rose is in a different zone now. Unstoppable. I can only imagine a Chuck Daly era tough Piston type defense that can control him in a playoff game. Other than that, he will be dominating a game each time he plays. He's got to be the league MVP this year.

Steve,

We get at least 2 games Live everyday here, via a 'premium' cable channel that we have to pay on top of our monthly cable subscription. And the games usually commercial free, depending on which network is beaming it here. On rare times, we even see the 'Geico gecko' commercial, which I think is not really a favorite anymore over there. LOL

And, we have ESPN Asia beaming live games too once a week. And another cable channel Basketball TV showing one live game each day, plus a local PI channel showing a live game a week too. So there may be up to 4 games to watch on a given day, with replays at night on at least 2 channels. That's pretty much to consume me. LOL

Manila is about 12 hours ahead of EST(DST). So 7pm New York time on a Monday night is actually Tuesday 7am Manila time. If EST is plus 3 hours of PST, Manila would be 15 hours ahead of PST. So an 8.30pm PST game of a Monday will be showing Live here at 11.30am Tuesday Manila time. I get to watch prior and during our lunch break. :)

My wife has been a basketball widow here for the past 2 years as I subscribed to the NBA Ticket by our cable carrier. It cost me IIRC $190 for the entire season for every game. Some nights I could watch 4 games a day -2 early and 2 late games.

Cool. Over here they keep advertising the NBA League Pass which they say can be viewed on cell phones. Well, I think my social and business life would be ruined once I get that, and I had been trying hard NOT to even read about the details of it. LOL My wife and son hug our 2 TVs at prime time into the late night with their Korean TV soap opera and action movies respectively, so I gotta make the most of lunch times and early afternoons for my NBA games. LOL

My brother-in-law is another story. He is a NBA fanatic and goes as far as being a human data bank of player stats and player movements, even the players of lottery teams he knows well, including the bench warmers. If Boston got a role player I don't know about, I just call or text him and he will tell me where this guy came from, position played and average ppg. I think he told me once he kept buying Basketball Digest. :)

Jadis

we have to plan your next vacation in SF during basketball season so that Ron Party and I can take you to a game at Oracle Arena to see GSW vs Lakers or Celts, so we need to look at next year's schedule to plan your vacation appropriately :)

Steve,

That would be like a dream trip for me, though I still need a good excuse to visit the States alone as most times I go there with my wife and kids. Finding the appropriate games to watch in the GS arena is yet another thing to hurdle as those months my kids are in school and me and my wife take turn in bringing them in and getting them out. But most definitely, I look forward to that day, doesn't matter if it's next year or another, that would be a blast of a trip. :)

Jadis, Christmas vacation is perfect. And, absolutely, bring the family!

Thanks, Ron. I was looking at next year or so but who knows. And, for starters, their visas need to be renewed. LOL

Just read that Sacramento may be moving to Anaheim. Whoa! 3 LA teams in the NBA? I'm still befuddled by the Clippers playing in LA, and now, add one more? Also, I'm still confused over the NY Jets and Giants, and the NY Yanks and Mets. LOL

They're showing the LAL-SAC game now Live as I type. LA up 38-30. The surely would rather meet Memphis than Portland in the first round, so a win today is needed.

LAL should win this one though one quarter left. Memphis is also about to lose, so Memphis and NO would go into a tie for 7th and 8th. Who gets to be 7th is the question, NO or Memphis to face LAL?

I can't believe it. SAC up by 3 with 9 secs left!
