Report: Kerr wants $30 million deal
By The Sports Xchange 2 hours ago The SportsXchange

TNT analyst Steve Kerr is seeking a five-year, $30 million contract to coach the New York Knicks, according to the New York Post.

Kerr, a former NBA guard and Phoenix Suns general manager, has been pursued by the Knicks to replaced fired coach Mike Woodson.

Kerr plans to fulfill his TNT duties through the playoffs. Mike Tannenbaum, Kerr's agent and former New York Jets general manager, is negotiating with the Knicks.

The Knicks gave Mike D'Antoni a four-year, $24 million deal in 2008, similar to what Kerr is seeking. D'Antoni established success with the Phoenix Suns before coming to the Knicks but Kerr has no coaching experience.

Knicks president Phil Jackson, who coached Kerr when he played for the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, has targeted Kerr for several weeks.

According to multiple reports, Kerr is expected to withdraw himself as a candidate for the Golden State Warriors' coaching job, even though Kerr reportedly would prefer to stay on the West Coast. He lives in San Diego.

Why not? He knows he'll last two years and be fired.

Good to see the Nets slow the Heat down. I can't believe that the Blazers are fading fast

The Blazers don't seem to be a match for SA. As for the Nets and the Heat, they the Heat have been in that situation before and they usually respond very well. The Nets have good aging players and they don't play as a cohesive unit, they will cave to the Heat. The darn, hated Heatr are just too good and with the Pacers showing propound weaknesses, they will win the East and face someone in the West, most likely the New Old Stock Spurs.

Clippers come back from 22 down to pull out a 101 - 99 victory over the Thunder.

Have to admit I was ready to give up on this game and was stunned by the last minute win.

Series tied at 2 - 2.

Woke up in time for the late 4th quarter rally of the Clippers. What a thrilling game!!! My heart was frozen when Ibaka tipped the ball at the last second and it rolled out! Wow. Exciting comeback. For a while there, I thought the Clippers would sink deep into a 1-3 hole. Darren Collison is the hero tonight.

And boy, Doc Rivers putting Chris Paul on a much taller KD in the 4th. Gusty move. And Chris Paul really proved he's such a gutsy player. KD was magnificent

Yeah, I was surprised when Doc put CP3 on KD - he's a foot taller than Chris. KD still had 40 points in the game.

Just watched the highlights on NBA TV and they showed Serge Ibaka punching Blake Griffin right in the nuts. No foul called at the time. Its not the first time that Ibaka has done that to Blake. Ibake should be supended for a game for that really dirty play.

Darren Collison was the star of the 4th quarter for the Clippers.

Wow, 2 huge comeback games tonight!!!

Pacers up 3-1. The funk is gone, hopefully. Paul George with 39 to lead the comeback. There is HOPE in the east.
Nets should follow suit. :D

Saw that too. And just read an article that says that Perkins kinda pushed Ibaka to move forward with that right swing to the groin area of Griffin. Ouch.

I think if it were intentional, Ibaka would have had a closed fist or use a palm strike of some sort. A reverse forehand wrist strike? Never seen one of those before! It would go against all instincts.

Can OKC win an NBA Championship? Built as it is.. There seems to be something missing in this team,a killer instinct , a rage, desire to win... Can they win against a fiery team such as as the Heat or a killing/winning machine like SA? I don't think so.
OKC still hasn't recover from the loss of Harden methink>

As for the Clippers , I simply can't see them winning, maybe I don't want to see them winning either. That would be too sweet for Donald Sterling

I can understand the anti-Sterling sentiment as I am in that camp as well.

As for the Clippers, still rooting for the team but not the current owner. Ambivalent feelings though and a loss of enthusiasm certainly.

Two of the next three games are in OKC so the Clippers are definitely underdogs.

Reviewing the Ibaka video again, have to admit he didn't form a fist.

In my view, since Sterling has been disgraced, banned and soon to be stripped of his ownership (at least from the league standpoint - not counting what's in store in the future legally speaking), I feel the players and the organization are playing for the fans and not for Sterling as they had shown their protest in the Warriors game. If ever the Clippers go all the way (the ball is round) and win it all, the irony is that Sterling will not be there to celebrate, and will not do so even from the outside as he has nothing to link him to any celebration. And I just read that he issued a public apology in a taped program which will be aired soon. There is now some pain in the man and he wants to be back.

If you saw the interview the man is a disgrace and has no remorse. His wife attributes his behavior to early dementia.

That apology was as phony as a three dollar bill. That was nothing more than something contrived by his PR/damage control person (s). Even then, he couldn't keep his mouth shut. Give this guy enough rope, he'll hang himself.

well here is the rope that should hang him....

Clippers' Sterling slams Magic Johnson, HIV status

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling repeatedly disparaged Magic Johnson's HIV-positive status in an interview that aired Monday, saying he was not a fit role model for children and dismissing his work in business and charity.

Sterling stirs new dispute with Magic-HIV remarks Associated Press

The interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper was meant to be a mea culpa in Sterling's first public comments since racist recordings emerged last month and earned him a lifetime NBA ban, but when the subject turned to Johnson, who was mentioned in the recordings, Sterling is anything but apologetic.

"He's got AIDS!" Sterling said loudly at one point, cutting off Cooper as the interviewer attempted to cite Johnson's accomplishments after Sterling asked, "What has he done, big Magic Johnson, what has he done?"

Sterling changed course briefly during the interview to call Johnson "a good person," but resumed his criticism.

"He acts so holy," Sterling said. "He made love to every girl in every city in America, and he had AIDS, and when he had those AIDS, I went to my synagogue and I prayed for him, I hope he could live and be well. I didn't criticize him. I could have. Is he an example for children?"

Cooper corrected Sterling, explaining that Johnson was HIV-positive but did not have "full-blown AIDS."

"What kind of a guy goes to every city, has sex with every girl, then he catches HIV. Is that someone we want to respect, and tell our kids about?" Sterling said. "I think he should be ashamed of himself."

Johnson, who is scheduled to appear on Cooper's show to reply on Tuesday, wrote on his Twitter account that "I'd rather be talking about these great NBA Playoffs than Donald Sterling's interview."

Johnson later Tweeted, "After this week, no more Sterling talk."

The comments earned Sterling a quick rebuke from NBA commissioner Adam Silver, who handed down a lifetime ban and $2.5 million fine against Sterling last month.

"I just read a transcript of Donald Sterling's interview with Anderson Cooper and while Magic Johnson doesn't need me to, I feel compelled on behalf of the NBA family to apologize to him that he continues to be dragged into this situation and be degraded by such a malicious and personal attack," Silver said. "The NBA Board of Governors is continuing with its process to remove Mr. Sterling as expeditiously as possible."

Just a day earlier, Johnson and the commissioner sat together at the Clippers playoff game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, though Johnson had Tweeted that he would never again attend a Clippers game while Sterling was owner

An absolute disgrace and repulsive man. Hope the owners vote to boot him out of the league entirely. Something must really be wrong with his mind. He issues a public apology (lame one) and then attacks Magic Johnson out of the blue.
