New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

Tyrone Lue left the Clippers coaching staff to join the Cavs.

Yes, Lue, former assistant of Doc in Boston, is now associate head coach of the Cavs. Wonder how that is different with Assistant Coach? Maybe he can't be pushed into an office to do pencil pushing. :D

Rockets outplay the Clippers in the second half and take the win. :(

Series tied 1 - 1. Next 2 games in LA.

What a shot by Rose to put Bulls up 2-1. Lucky shot even. :D

That was an incredible shot by Rose - did he call the bank shot?

I would say no. He just had to throw it up due to lack of time, and it banked in.

Paul is playing. What a time for my cable to conk out in the middle of the Clippers game.

Career playoff high for Austin Rivers, 25 points. Blowout game so I didn't miss much from downed cable service. Celtics shouldn't have traded Austin Rivers to his dad. He should have been used to bait his father back to Boston. :D

Clippers up 2 - 1.

JJ Reddick and A. Rivers stars of the game.

Strange series between the Clippers and Rockets. Clippers win two in blowouts, Rockets take one.

Does anybody else here think Mchale is not much of a coach?

Bulls/Cavs was great, physical playoff game.

I was just saying to myself after the game 1 loss that Houston's defense is bit loose. Although throughout the regular seasonthe Rockets were pretty effective in winning games, thus getting the number 2 seed. Playoff time is a different and McHale may not be as experienced as Doc or Pop in withstanding the pressure; like in Game 1, the Clippers played the wounded lion role which most coaches would be weary of, as it creates a false sense of security on the opposing team and a looking for a bench hero scenario on the Clippers side. McHale doesn't have that much experience. If they go down 1-3, it's probably goodbye time for the Rockets but if they go 2-2, then we have a series.

Clippers, having beaten and dethroned the world champions, an intact world champions at that, in a gruelling 7 game series, should feel awfully good and sky high these days, in terms of morale, that even Austin Rivers was reborn due to the CP3 injury. These are some of the dramatic events playoffs are showing us , macho warriors who have no time to bleed. McHale and his assistants have tough days ahead of him. And if he has to design a defense to stop Austin Rivers (who had a hard time scoring points for the majority of the season), then he's really in trouble. :D

Doc creates such good rapport with his players, what a heart warming response from CP3 on Austin's fantastic game last night to his coach.

Washington gives up a 20 point lead to Atlanta and with 14.1 secs left Pierce gets the ball and scores at the buzzer
'
Wizzards 103-101

Saw that too, Steve. Wow, what a shot by Pierce. There was no doubt in the building that he was going to take the last shot. But called bank? Ask D Rose that question too. :D

I never could understand why players are always ribbed about bank shots. IMO a banked shot is often times more difficult when one stops to think that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection

the interviewer asked paul about the call banked and paul evaded the question after thinking for about 3 seconds. a top of the key bank is usually questioned, a quartercourt bank like what duncan loves is more of a natural thing. :)

memphis starting well near the half.

Grizzlies leading Warriors by 15 at the end of the third quarter. I didn't think Memphis could handle the Warriors.

Maybe David Joerger figured something out that no one else has this season - how to beat the Warriors.

Never thought he was a great coach - maybe he is.

While I hardly watch Memphis games in the regular season, I am discovering them now. At one point they had a good winning streak and sat high in their division so it must say something. What I learned is that they are number 2 in defense this year, and Tony Allen was all defensive first team in 2012 and 2013. He had 4 steals, 1 block and 5 rebounds in game 3.
Grizzlies use a lot of inside plays with their burly guys Zach, Koufos and Marc. Steve Kerr has to find a solution to this.

Turns out size still matters. Combine two excellent perimeter defenders (yeah, Allen's been great) with two big, tough and skilled post players and you get trouble for GS. From what I saw too, I think the announcers were correct in pointing out that some players on GS were trying to do too much on their own at the expense of ball movement.

Never understood why bigger teams felt they had to go small when playing GS. That's playing someone else's game and you can't do it as well as GS. Fun series.

I'm sticking with my prediction a thousand posts ago in this thread of a Clips/Bulls final :)

Injuries are threatening teams in the playoffs. Pau Gasol has a hamstring injury from Game 3. Irving has foot injury and Wall has wrist injury. Wizards are the surprise of the lot so far, winning Game 3 without John Wall. Tomorrow we'll see if LeBron pulls out his 45 points game to tie the series. He has to.
