New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

And reports say there are 3 left...

Big Papi of the Red Sox is pitching in too. :) It's a long shot. My own bet will be Warriors, OKC, then Celtics. :) But I'm hoping I'm grossly wrong. :D

Rondo, in the meantime, has committed to the Bulls.

And Luol Deng is getting close to $20m for 4 years with the Lakers. Wow.

If KD bolts OKC, then OKC would have lost him for nothing, pretty risky for the GM whose only option was to have traded him for somebody, but he couldn't have done that in a situation where OKC was chasing a title. No wonder the GM of OKC got Oladipo and 2 young players to lure KD back.

Heres' one more new cap crazy deal. One Hassan Whiteside of the Heat, whom they picked up from virtually nowhere and paid him $980,000 last season, was re-signed for a whopping $24.6m a year for the next 4 years, becoming the first minimum to maximum salary player in 1 year. That should make Wade, who made $20m last season, seek a $40m/yr deal. :D

I just read that Steph Curry is the 4th highest paid player on the team behind KD, Thompson and Greene

The Warriors will be scarier now... WOW! Seem to come from left field... Rumors weren't about him bolting there.

Well, my own gut feel was right. I had a feeling that Durant wants to win QUICK, and joining the Warriors was his best shot at winning quickly. Warriors also traded out Bogut and renounced Barnes' restriced status, so Dallas gets 2 starters who were champions with GS.

And the Warriors have a BIG FOUR.

Sorry Phil. Warriors get KD.

Yeah Steve. Too bad my C's didn't win the Durant lottery. Am happy though it was GS who got him. I'm still smarting from their loss last month. Due to my fondness for the Bay Area, I have adopted them as my 2nd favorite team. :D

I'm surprised he only signed a 2 year contract

Hopefully he won't play the traveling game like LBJ

I think that it's a calculated move. Player option at the end of the 2nd year. The salary cap is reported still going to be increased to north of $100m in 2017 and by 2018 it could head for the sky. By then, if KD has had his ring, or rings, then it would be easy for him to renegotiate his contract with most possibly the largest contract ever in the NBA. And it is not hard to imagine him beating Mike Conley for this 'record'. :D

Warriors add 6'11" Zaza Pachulia to fill the 5 spot. Gritty rebounder, just what they need. They don't waste much time, do they?

I whiffed on this prediction. In hindsight I think it makes a lot of sense for KD. I don't think it is all about getting a ring or as he put it "growing as a man", whatever that means in this context and certainly not just the money. I think it has a lot to do with being able to play the game longer. In the last playoffs we saw how KD would fade in the 4th quarter. It's like something we see quite often in boxing when the legs and the arms just go in the later rounds of a 12 rounder. He's not getting any younger and I personally believe that especially after having experienced serious injuries two seasons ago, having to carry such a heavy offensive load for OKC figured heavily in his decision to go somewhere he can share the ball with more. With Green and Thompson in there he also gets his defensive load lessened as well. If health is wealth then this factor makes a lot of sense in offsetting what extra dough he could have made by staying in OKC after 2017.

I'm really happy with where the Pacers are headed. No I don't see them getting into the conference finals but I do see them giving serious scares to eastern contenders. If they can get Rudy Gay, they may just be conference contenders themselves. Teague, George back at 2, Gay, Young, Turner. Not bad at all. Still, the Cavs are an awfully high wall to get over if they stay healthy. I think they will be game against anybody else in the east.

Tim Duncan is leaning towards retirement, per report. A most admired player of all ages, humble, effective and a 5 time champion, virtually no antics and no air. He is first and foremost a player who makes a team win.

The C's meanwhile, after unofficially finishing 3rd in the Durant sweepstakes, :D must now focus on player development. They should be able to find a new Klay or new Draymond or even a new Paul Pierce in their stable of young draft picks. I have not encountered a team with so many players in their roster, should be more than 20 now. :D Jalen Brown could be the most significant Jalen after Jalen Rose. 6'7" 220 lbs, could still beef up and is only 19 years old. The last time C's got a No.3 pick it was Chauney Billups who turned out to be a champion. The future is bright.

Jerry West's late phone call to KD made him stay in the West. :D

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...-west-calls-pitches-kevin-durant-joining-team

"West spoke to Durant from the perspective of an all-time great player who kept falling short of winning an NBA championship. Although West won a title with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1972, he lost in his first seven trips to the NBA Finals and finished 1-8 in the Finals overall. West, 78, told Durant those losses still eat at him to this day, according to sources.

West also told Durant that playing alongside the Warriors' star trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green would make it much easier on him. West opined that in Oklahoma City, most of Durant's shot attempts are difficult and contested. He told Durant, a career 27.4 point scorer, that his points would come much easier in Golden State and suggested it would take fewer shots to score the same amount of points."

I only just read that the Lakers have not only gotten rid of Hibbert ( no great loss) but also signed Luol Deng.

I have always liked Deng when he played with The Bulls and will be a seasoned veteran who can play Dee and make the shots. Having said that $72M and Moszgov $64M
