Jet lag and all, it's an awesome feeling to step in a building with so many green colored fans. And what a lovely city. KD, how could you have not chosen to come here and become another basketball legend this city is so famous for?
My thoughts exactly Steve. He conveniently forgets that he dumped his home team to bundle together with Wade and Bosh, and after losing to the Spurs later on, he decided to bundle together with Kyrie so it would be nice to see his lose to this bundled Warriors team so James can bundle yet a third time with Melo and Chris Paul, maybe in a new expansion team.
My wife is a hard core Cubs fan so no NBA basketball at my house last night. After the Cubs loss I had to tip toe around very quietly.
Much to my delight I did check the NBA scores this morning and saw that the Duncan-less Spurs somehow beat the hell out of the mighty Golden State Warriors by 29 points. Have to love it when a so-called Super Team takes it on the chin. Hard to root for Darth Vader.
Never heard of Jonathon Simmons of the Spurs before either but he played the last couple of years in the D-League. Love it when the hard scrabble guys make it in the NBA.
Looks like the Warriors weakness is down low, not big and strong enough.
Leave it to Coach Popovich to figure out a way to beat the Warriors.
Warriors still playing the long ball shooting game. Curry and Durant took hurried and contested shots from way way out there. Not high percentage shots. Pop wouldn't play his Spurs that way. Kerr has to re think his style if they meet the Spurs in the playoffs. Yes, again, no big rebounders for the Warriors as the play the swing and shoot game. If they miss, no second chance opportunities. Chemistry finding time for the Warriors and their newbies try to blend in. Kawhi could even have an MVP year.
Reggie Miller commented in teh game that it is very early and said this should not be taken as an indication of what will transpire over the season "The Warriors are not that bad, and the Spurs not that good". Cleveland however looked crazy good.
Steve, I've seen some brief highlights of pre-season Lakers and D'Angelo Russell looked real sharp. This should be a good year for the Lakers now that they don't have to 'feed' Kobe.
Moving in this post from the Best Countries thread (go figure)
From Jack:
"If it makes you feel any better, it probably won't, Larry Legend had his booboos too. Remember that he traded Kawhi Leonard for George Hill! Ugh. I can only imagine what a monster team Indy would have been if he hadn't. Wait....we're on the wrong thread!"
Well, that was a marvelous stroke by the GM of the Spurs then, they saw Kahwi still available and burned the phone lines of the Pacers office for a trade. I would have wished any team in the East got better other than that where LeBron is. So no, I don't feel better.
And glancing at the Pacers' roster now. Paul George, Turner, Young, Ellis, Teague, with Al Jefferson, CJ Miles, and Stuckey off the bench. Are you kidding me? How did Bird assemble this unit in a couple of years? It's better than the C's now, I feel.
