The Odin's will not be easy to surpass - I think you will have many years of peace before needing to think about cables again. I do not figure out what speakers you are using, can you please remember me ?
Very nice system! I like the balance of your system as much as the individual components, nearly all of which i have heard myself and some i know very well!
Looking for references about the Nordost Valhalla I found reviews as old as dating from 2001 - this means that Valhalla cable kept competitive in the market for more than 12 years. Let us hope that the prices do not increase with the appearance of the version 2 with wood blocks and custom plugs. I am really expecting to try them in my system - an experience with the old Valhalla in the SoundLabs was impressive, but as when I got the Aida's there were already rumors about the possible Valhalla 2 , I decided to wait.
Nordost will also be using the new "Holo" plugs on the Valhalla 2. IMO, the new plugs that they are using on the Tyr 2 are inferior to the WBT's that they were using before on the Tyr cables. Should be interesting to see how the "Holo" plugs compare to the WBT's on the original Valhalla.
I would have loved to have been a "fly on the wall" when the Nordost guys decided they could charge just about 70% more for version 2 than version 1 - on the basis, presumably, that it is 70% better. If they are going to keep making version 1 I guess they will be marketing it as around 40% worse than version 2.

I agree. I cannot see how the new engineering could add that much to the cost. From a raw materials standpoint, that cost is probably little more than the cost for version 1.
Maybe it's just another case of 'what the market will bear' and/or they felt that if the price increase wasn't significant enough over the first version that people wouldn't take the new cable seriously and wouldn't upgrade.
