Thank you Odd Harry,
Whaoo - sounds awesome!! What a great setup you’re about to have soon. When do you expect the Ypsilon and the SUT’s to arrive?

Hope to get a good report from you later on, when all your gear is well broken in. Sounds like you are going to have a fun summer and comming autumn. Happy listening ;) !

Anyone on a waiting list for the TA-10000 NEO arm yet?

The 12" is basically the same price ($67K US) as an Ascona NEO with the platter upgrade…

Hi Bill,

No none that I’ve heard of yet… me included! The TA-10K NEO is very interesting though.. but for that price, I think I rather go for an after market SAT arm.. but that’s just me.

I'd agree, that's SAT territory, though perhaps you'd get the TA-10K if you didn't want to wait for a year or two to get your tonearm. ;)

Does the VPS 100 have any cartridge loading adjustment ability?

No there is not any cartridge loading adjustment on the Ypsilon VPS 100 I am using Step up transformers Ypsilon MC 16 L and MC 10 L .MC 16 L give 24 db gain 200 ohm load . MC 10 L give 20 db gain 500 ohm load

Johan;
Nice photos!
Did you do the entire setup, including the tonearms & phono cartridge mounting, from box to your isolation platform all by yourself?

Thank you, Greg!

Yes ofcourse I did! I have done every set up, every tweak, tuning, furnitures, acoustics, electrical stuff and more, myself…. no big deal… just need to be very careful, delicate and meticulous with everything, and have the right tools in hand. I have had some lifting help from time to time but I usually manage that myself too :) . Now and then I have had a couple of extra trustworthy ears, helping me stay on track when tuning in. In my experience it is very easy to get sound blind when your right in the middle of it all, so you need some extra ears to guide you along the way, but that is basically it.

WOW NICE!! :D

I can't setup my LP12 because it requires special training by Linn at their Glasgow factory.
I've no training or tools to mount my phono pickup either. Since 1983 the local Linn shop always took care of that for me.

I did everything else myself. Not a lot really. Just have to strong enough to lift McIntosh amps and have enough money to purchase the components and audio accessories... ;)

I've found for most setups it's not very difficult, just time, patience and care. Enjoy!

Well the Linn dealership that I use is picky about who works my table, even among other Linn dealerships...
My table sounds incredible so I'll leave the task of setup and cartridge mounting to the shop.

Anyone preferring the looks and build quality of VPI has no vote anyway Johan !
My LP12 was average looking 40 years ago. Nowadays it still looks the same only with a new plinth. No bling with my table...

Johan has a interesting table with multiple arms. One day I'll maybe visit Johan and bring along some of my reference classical recordings and hear all 3 of his tonearms for comparisons.
I won't be making that trip in winter though, it's way too cold where Johan lives in Sweden...PXL_20241226_153916273.MP.jpg

the linn lp 12 is very special, firstly it comes in 6 boxes, all components separately, motor, subchassis etc. the biggest problem is that the subchassis and springs can only be adjusted from below (remove the base plate each time) and not from above like with the thorens. this means that everything has to be readjusted each time the tonearm is changed. if the subchassis or springs are not adjusted correctly it sounds like a €50 record player from the hardware store. if you haven't done it often it can take several hours and some people despair over it. it is definitely not a plug & play record player.
P.S
Without a frame (table) where only the plinth rests, it is almost impossible to done it correctly

Maybe it's time for a more modern table that sounds better and requires less to set up and maintain? Just a thought.
