Pacific dac: Lampizator's new top of the line dac

What tube is there in the position of the 6N6P?
First image is a Tung Sol Flat/Ladder/Ribbed plate D-Getter 5687 using a 5687 --> 6N6P adapter. Second is a Mullard ECC32 using a 6SN7 --> 5687 adapter connected to the 5687 --> 6N6P adapter. I just got a 6SN7 --> 6992 (same pinout as 6N6P) adapter so I can eliminate the first ( 5687 --> 6N6P ) adapter. I prefer the ECC32 to the Tung Sol. The Tung Sol is no slouch though.

Upon further inspection, it may not be possible to use the 6SN7 --> 6992(6N6P) adapter because of how deeply set the tube socket is below the top cover of the DAC. Therefore, I'll be keeping the 5687 --> 6N6P adapter in play since it acts as a riser.

Out of interest, where did you get the 5687 --> 6N6P adapter from?

I have the Aqua v1. It’s a good sounding rectifier for the money. Not in the Western Electric 274B/422a class, but those are 5x more expensive.
Yeah I know they are good, considering getting one. I was wondering if the Mk2 version was significantly better or not though and worth the money or not

I have two versions of the Sophia. One is the Aqua, which is cheaper than the other premium clear glass mesh plate 274B version. I liked the latter better. I don’t know how it compares to the v2 Aqua.

I upgraded my Pacific to Pac 2 specification and listened without any burning in for 2 hours . The DAC is audibly quiter, no hum whatsoever, darker background, I have also the impression it has a bit lower gain which is good in my effective system with Trio LE 26.

The next day I left for holidays and I will listen longer and more carefully after I am back home , but the first impressions are very good.

The JL engine makes possible to use again the Stavessence Apricity usb cable which I purchased when I have had B7. Then in Pacific with Amanero board it didn't work.

I saw that upgrade too. The issue I think that the problem Lampizator have is that for another 12K (depending on model) you can have a Horizon under their trade in policy. I would think that a lot of people would rather save up and wait..... Of course people who feel they are near their end game would probably go to v2

I don't think the trade-in program is still available. I believe it was for a limited period during the launch of the Horizon. I'd love to be wrong about that.

If you read the small print usually the poison is hidden there. Trade in policy P for H ended like on 1.10.2022 ;)
