I have a set of exqusite midi 3.0 and driving them with CH L1 pre and M1.1 stereo power(350w 4 ohms). My Kharma dealer says Kharmas are very power hungry and i sould go for the mono version of M1.1. I asked CH customer service and they advised to go mono but use a two set of speaker cables and biamp the speaker. In that way you will drive one speaker with one amp but from two binding posts which wil give roughly 350w to base + 350w to mid and highs totally 700w per channell. They say in taht set up i will have more refined sound with more seperation,soındstage and detail. When i look at Kharma exqusite mono power amps they are 800w in 4 ohm. Does this mean Kharmas are power hungry? Sould i go to that mono biamp route?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the Exquisite Midi 3.0 but I own the Elegance db11s and I don't find them power hungry.
I owned the CH A1.5 and I now drive them with a ~40W class A amp and I find I'm not loosing any grip (the overall sound is much improved (from the CH) but that is unrelated to this topic).

The load is ~6ohms average with 89dB, which is not a difficult load to drive and works very well with tube and tube-like amplifiers.

Thank you for the reply..So you thing there may be a better match than ch electronics for kharma. Which class A are you using and what is the sonic differences compare to ch ?
Thanks

It's a bit OT, but yes, I've found Aries Cerat a better match than CH for my Kharma on my setup. YMMV.
In general, I'm finding Aries Cerat designs and sound a revelation in high-end audio.
Naturally, a ~40W amp, is ONLY a 40W amp and if you play loud in a (very) large room - it could be an issue with <90dB speaker.
