I continue to enjoy the Quad dsd thru my ever breaking in GG; it's now around 450+ hours......and definitely improving.
last night I added 5 more 256fs dsd/Quad dsd albums to my server. as far as I can tell, all 5 of these are native Quad dsd recordings.
these 4 from Native DSD;
https://navisclassics.nativedsd.com/albums/nc15003bach-cello-suites-vol-1
https://eudora.nativedsd.com/albums/fernando-sor-guitar-sonatas
https://eudora.nativedsd.com/albums/mozart-chopin-dialogue
https://eudora.nativedsd.com/albums/euddr1501violin-and-guitar-sonatas-viola-and-guitar-sonata
and this one from Blue Coast Records;

I'm sampling all these fresh downloads and so far really enjoying them. my sense is these native Quad dsd recordings do go that some further sonically. I'm hearing greater levels of decay and more textural information. lower noise floors. less processed sounding. more 'reach out and touch'....a micro-dynamic life to the sound that draws you in. I especially like the Quiles and Cloud from Blue Coast. I was at the dsd seminar at RMAF early this month and Quiles and Cloud performed 'live' and were again recorded at the end of the seminar. it was very nice.
it's early in the learning.
but clearly I prefer native format recordings.....and I'm not referring to the website.
I did already have these other native Quad dsd recordings already;
https://justlisten.nativedsd.com/albums/jl0028-ensembles-in-1-bit
https://eudora.nativedsd.com/albums/EUDDR1502-jonas-nordberg-de-visee-weiss-dufaut
https://navisclassics.nativedsd.com/albums/NC15004-the-first-and-the-last-romantic
plus the Wave Kinetics Debussy piano solo by Ilyn Iten.
and I have 8 upsampled Quad dsd (from dsd 64) albums from Spirit of Turtle plus 5 Yarlung analog tape (based on my current understanding) based Quad dsd albums. likely the best digital way to hear this music; but for the Yarlung I'd expect to prefer vinyl or tape. at some point i'll have to investigate whether that is true.
Hello Mike,
Enjoyed reading your quad dsd adventure. What equipment do you use to rip your vinyl collections to dsd?
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Guys,
I just found this picture on the net. It shows a Lampi with I2S over HDMI input? I had no idea he offered this as an option. Has anyone tried it? It would be by far the best way to get the most out of your Lampi.

Blizz, I even know who owns that Dac! The owner even posts here sometimes. LoL
Problem is only PCM works so far and DSD will come later (when Luk has time, I imagine). It is made on the PSA standard for pinout and was a prototype back then.
The Lampizator Komputer can be ordered with an I2S output option, as shown on the Lampi website.

Ahh I see. Well not to hard to make DSD function with it as well. He should get on it! It's a matter of connecting a couple more wires up. But I suppose he would have to reccommend third parties that offer transports with DSD over HDMI. Maybe that's the holdup.
Do you know if it's LVDS or CMOS?
Oppo does that. I have a 105d and was thinking about this exact thing!

Oppo uses the HDMI standard bitstream though. This is different. It's an HDMI connector, but used for a completely different transmission protocol.
I heard a modded Oppo at Flyer's today that feeds SACD into his Totaldac. Though with SACDs ripped one might as well play them ripped anyway. What Blizz is referring to is to use I2S instead.
I would tell Lukasz to wire up the DSD before I would order one. And if he didn't want to, I'd have mine wired up myself in 10 minutes and then I'd be listening to DSD 256 in the purest way possible through that DAC with this transport:

What is this Blizz in laymans?
It's an extremely well made SD card transport with I2S/DSD direct output via HDMI LVDS, and support up to DSD 256.
I even found a source who builds it into a nice enclosure! I might have to buy one of these just for fun! It absolutely slaughters anything connected via USB. I don't care if you spend $1000000.
