Hi guys - I've searched as I didn't want to post a duplicate post and haven't found an answer. So I think this is the first time it's being asked.

Anyone try running a different rectifier other than the 5AR4 in the Incito Preamp, such as a 5U4G or something else? How about in the Helene other than the GZ34?

Thanks.

I just got this the other day to try out...

Thank you J007B.

Is it possible to try the 5U4G or any others in th place of the 5AR4?

I'm not sure what that first tube in your pic is.

Another 5U4G recommendation that was sent to me:

It would be interesting to to hear Stavros thoughts...

I know, doesn’t seem to be a lot of information on this subject. I’m still getting to know my Helene…You might send a PM to Mr. Miyagi, super nice, I know he has experience with both Aries Cerat and Lampizator and I’m sure he would get back to you.

Hello there

Stick to GZ34/5AR4 , rest types are a compromise as they have quite higher voltage sag.

The GE variations such as GE and Japan made are one of my favorites.

Cheers
Stavros

There exists a fair selection of GZ34/5AR4 types available from disparate manufacturers and from different decades of manufacture , enough variations upon a theme to keep prospective tube rollers engaged for some time.

I can also highly recommend the original Mullard GZ34 (e.g. F32) Blackburn factory (UK).

Also the fat base versions, this is where I would start with experimenting..

None, yet, but would like to try a Helene at some point. My preference for the fat base Mullard GZ34 is based on using several amplifiers here of my own, plus customers experiences post recommendation.

A „FAT base Mullard GZ34“ is a Mullard Blackburn with code F31?

Currently I have a NOS Mullard UK GZ34 branded Siemens 1966 in my Helene. Even though I only have about 25 hours on it I have to say it is a great sounding tube....
