Rega Naia vs other similarly priced setups?

I have actually spoken with Michael about the Naia and it was his feedback that began to make me consider it more seriously. I asked him if it was a table he could live with based on sonics, and he said it was close, but he would probably want a different cart on it. And thats not surprising given his enourmous experience in that area.
Also, somwhere, I lost track of where, he has posted two music files, one ripped from the Naia, and one from his reference table, everything else the same. I listened to it on my system, and I could hear the difference fairly clearly. The Naia sounded a bit smaller, shrunk a bit, and less musical and involving. Not by a lot, but the $$$ difference is a factor close to 10x .

When you watch driving experience of a Ferrari against a Toyota Corolla on TV, the difference doesn’t seem that dramatic—but the real-life experience is absolutely huge. It’s the same with comparing ripped files from two turntables.

I’m not saying a turntable that costs 10 times more necessarily justifies its price—maybe it does for those who can afford it, I don’t know. What I’m trying to say is that the sound quality difference between two turntables becomes even more significant when you compare them side by side. If there’s a noticeable difference in ripped files, then the real-world difference is likely to be much greater
