Well since it came from Albert himself I guess it isn't a rumor anymore.

Here comes the VR-44!

I'm chomping at the bit for this one since this is a real world loudspeaker I'm itching to own. I haven't exactly figured out where to put it yet but I want it! I'm thinking bedroom! The 44 looks like it's the child of a DB-99 in form and VR-5 HSE in complement. It will come in two variants, a fully passive and a semi-active. I've got 300B SEP monos, and the Valvet A3.5s I'm dying to strap on the semi-active model and if I get lucky I'll get to play with Keith's ML2.1s or incoming ML2.2s. Come to think of it, I've also got that pair of VK-150s in my tube amp closet.

I don't know if this is finalized yet but it appears it will go to RMAF with Bill's TOTL Purity Preamp and his OTLs. Wish I could be there! Break a leg guys!

What's "semi-active" Jack?

Passive XO and your choice of amps for tweets and mids, powered woofers with all the usual controls. You don't get all the power savings but the amps no longer have to deal with LF back EMF. These will go flat down to at least the low twenties in a proper room, I'm willing to wager, without sagging the top end. While the flat 8 ohm load makes it a breeze to drive, I'd still want to try it with big iron.

Woofers out of the power chain and a nice, flat, 8-ohm impedance curve above is about as close to full active as passive can get. Sounds wonderful. You won't need big iron, but it you've got it, what they heck, use it. There's no such thing as too much headroom. But Jack...Jack...down to the low twenties in your bedroom? :)

What better to get in the mood ey? ;) ;) ;) It's about 45sqm with 3m ceilings. So I should have more than the quarter wavelength to get audible in the 20s. I'm a sick puppy Tim. I'm actually looking at after market spikes and out-riggers already. Jeeeez.

Best wishes to you, Bill, for a great RMAF show.

Jack, you dog, you have way too many toys for just one man.

Hey Ron, old buddy! How ya doin these days? My excuse is they're "Inventory" or "Demo" gear. The latter is depreciable. ;) ;) ;)

Yes Albert posted a pic of the speakers on his FB page too :) I really would like to hear them too. I went to his website for more info but couldn't find any :(

Well folks, the rumors have turned into reality. We spent the weekend at RMAF with the new VR 44 Aktive so they do exist. The best sound we heard at the show nobody else was able to experience. Late Saturday night, the KR distributor brought to our room a Kron integrated amplifier which we drove with the new Purity Audio Design Ultra GT linestage with all silver autoformer attenuatiors. The main source was the French Eera Tentation CD player with cabling being all silver from Onda Cables.

This sound with the KR Amp was a religious experience going into the VR-44 speakers.

Hi Bill,

With the misfortune of the flood behind you and the great response for your preamps, I'm hoping you will consider adding your own amps to your line in the very near future. I can't imagine how much better things might have gone if you'd had more direct control and hadn't had to deal with the murphy-esque goings on regarding the Cherry mismatch and the McAllister shipping damage.

Still, I hear it was a good show for you. CES is just a few months away and I'm hoping I can catch you guys there.

All the Best,

Jack

Greetings Jack,
We do have plans for our own amps and have been working on some for the past couple years now. In fact, I have a pair of prototype mono blocs of one of our designs running in my facility now. They have been sent out to a few select beta testers with only 100% feedback coming our way. The downfall that not too many people know is that the Purity products that were at RMAF was everything we had left. Everything we salvaged from the flood is what was seen at the show. This flood wiped us out in ways nobody realizes. We have some work ahead of us with the new facility but I can assure you we are on track and this flood has only slowed us down for a short period.

Sending you a PM as well.

I think it was HP that originally said it, but these truly are the John Holmes of vacuum tubes.

Perhaps it might be more appropriately named the Ron Jeremy since he's out at all the CES shows :) (that's because the adult video is in the same place as the audio :) )

Audio porn next to real porn eh?

Auuugh man! Not Ron Jeremy! Even Jenna Jameson drew the line at Ron Jeremy!!!!! LOL
