Am going to give these a whirl tomorrow for a customer with an MSB dac, whose xlr jacks are mounted too close for comfort for my usual Bocchino plugs. The finish looks lovely and they have my preferred set screw mounting but space at rear of barrel is tighter than I would have liked.
That mirrored my experience as well. The set screws, fit and finish were nice. The clamping mechanism is decent, probably better than comparable XLR connectors like ETI -- I just wish it wasn't inherently single-use from needing to be crimped. The back opening is a fine size for terminating most bulk cable, but I'd agree that for custom cables it gets a bit tight. I haven't done any A/B comparisons using the same cable & different connectors, so no comments on sound quality other than that I feel no urge to switch to anything else.
Right now I am in the process of integrating several more Sablon cables in my Stereo.
First step was a short XLR from DAC to preamp.
It replaced a NBS monitor 1 XLR.
I am floored.
Organic, simply natural, vast extension of frequency ends, much more fine dynamic nuance, expression.
Looking forward to more of these cables …
