No it doesn’t. I heard it with Airtight EL34 34 watts, Riviera 50w hybrid, Jadis 100w integrated, Silvercore 833c 20 watts in direct compares with those amps I mentioned. And a German 300b 20 watts with the EML 320 XLS. Also with Kondo overture EL34

And the NAF 2a3 bested all of these? Have you heard the 300b version?

No I haven’t. It had KR 2a3 in it. The airtight 300b was also good.

Yes I have read your posts on seeds SETs and had the M60 mk3.

The fact that Devore responded better and better as we went down the power rating was quite audible. There were other speakers in the room that did worse as we went lower in power. That was also audible

FWIW the M-60 Mk3 was discontinued about 12 years ago.

How do you know it was the DeVore that was 'responding better and better'? Could it have been the room sounding better with less sound pressure? How well was the front end of your system damped from room borne vibration? Can you see that this is still a Hasty Generalization?

You're still dealing with a limited sample size. If I can show you opposite testimony using the same speaker, what does that mean?

Apparently one thing we both agree on is the DeVore is an easy and musical speaker to drive.

This is due to the impedance curve: not lower than 7 ohms. It plays down to 40 Hz without any loss of sound pressure. Between 1 and 3 kHz, the speaker will play 2 dB louder. With an amplifier, the sound is livelier without feedback.
You can see all of this from an impdance curve without listening to him.
Works good with set amp,but I would not combine high-resolution analytical sounding tubes with it, it tilts the sound image into the unpleasant.e.g newer siemens or ribbed plate tfk.

Why do so many people use 2A3 or 300B. My amp also has a lot of Monolith iron. Its a KT PP amp. I asked about a 300B or 2A3. I was told they are good tubes, but an 811 can be an even better tube.

Possibly mk4 is better than the 3, haven’t heard it.

With Devore, I found the best results from NAF2a3 10 watts and airtight 300b, after trying many higher powered sets and push pulls

Maybe they moved from italy to Switzerland. The amps now say Switzerland on them.

This tubes has a large following; I think a good designed amp will sound excellent with any tube. Personal preferences play a role. For example, I love the RS 1003 pentode.

The speaker response is flat, except for small dips around 1200 and 2400 Hz, when driven in voltage mode with a very low impedance SS amplifier, as usual in frequency response measurements. Besides the 1-3kHz It will also show a peak at around 60Hz - some care must taken when positioning the speaker, also any vestiges of hum can easily show!

I think this peak is more likely due to the room it was measured in. Honestly, anyone using this speaker is more likely to use SET amps or small single-ended transistors.
In an anechoic chamber, measurements in the bass range are more accurate

The picture was taken at one of the shootouts with several variants of the schematic and some variants of compoents used. We tested e.g. output transformers from James, Tango, Lundahl, Gerd Reinhöfer, Thöress and others but also combinations of the driver stage with different power tubes (6CB5A, 12E1, 300B, 45).
